Over the past few weeks I have come to one conclusion.

Having spoken to many supporters over the last few weeks, I have nevber found moral so low amongst the fans, it is well documented that I found it incredulous that many supporters could not find it in themselves to rally round when the club was at its lowest ebb, but after speaking to a great many of them I at last found out why and to some degree could concur with their views.

Put bluntly the fans have had the stuffing knocked out of them by the constant board room battles and whilst many of them blame Rupert Lowe in the main part, they realise that it takes two to tango.

With this in mind the feeling that I got was that many would be unable to return to the Club unless there was complete and utter change, they felt that unless it was completely new faces in the boardroom that it would merely be a re shuffle and that nothing had changed and that being the case we would simply be heading along the same road as before and we all know where that leads.

Sadly it does not look like there will be significant money invested in this club, all the talk is of consortiums and to be frank that isnt good news, as we have discovered to our cost, as have a seeries of other clubs, consortiums mean ego's and ego's mean arguments and trouble and god knows we have seen enough of that over the last years.

Of course beggars cant be choosers and the supporters at this point would be grateful just to see the Club saved, but if it is to be more than saved and also prosper then it is imperative that it has the backing of the fans and in order to be able to do that it needs to be a clean sweep across the board, that means a completely new board of directors and perhaps even a new manager !

In the circumstances Mark Wotte hasnt done a bad job, statistically his points per game ratio is almost identical to that of Nigel Pearson, however it is all about perception and there are many supporters who percieve him to be part of the Lowe regime and for that reason he will find it hard to get the backing of the supporter base.

Southampton Football Club stands at the crossroads, it has the chance to "Start Again" however if it doesnt take that chance then I dread to think what the future might hold.
