Week 7 Results

HUDDERSFIELD 1 PRESTON 2

The first away win in a league fixture between the teams since 1992, as Preston came from behind to beat 10-man Huddersfield. A good 5 got this spot-on, and a another 4 had the the outcome. 14 predicted a win for Huddersfield with 11 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

QPR 0 BIRMINGHAM 0
Both teams extended their winless league runs to seven games with this bore draw. Well done to Tropical_Us for being the only one to have this spot-on, and 4 more got the outcome. 19 predicted a win for QPR.

STOKE 3 BRENTFORD 2
Stoke held off a late Brentford rally to extend their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions. Nobody got this spot-on, but 6 did have the outcome.

NORTHAMPTON 0 CHARLTON 2
Two goals in five second-half minutes helped Charlton to their third straight victory. A good 5 had this spot-on, and a further 15 got the outcome.

SUNDERLAND 1 PORTSMOUTH 3
Sunderland's unbeaten start to the season came crashing to an end, as Portsmouth made it four wins from five league matches. Nobody got this spot-on, though 2 did have the outcome. 22 predicted a win for Sunderland.

STEVENAGE 0 LEYTON ORIENT 2
Two quickfire second-half goals handed Orient a hard fought victory. Another game with no 3 pointer, but 7 did get the outcome.

As noah4x4 commented "Can't see many free scoring results in this batch of dour match ups". A lot of members agreed there wouldn't be many goals in this weeks fixtures. They did produce a reasonable 16 goals, but not necessarily in the right net, as only Charlton of the well supported teams won. The 30 points achieved from their 2-0 win was almost as many as from the other five games together. Just the eleven 3 pointers in total this week, and basher2010 was the only one to get two, the wins for Preston and Charlton to give him a decent 6 points and make him the weeks top scorer. The others were shared with nine members getting one each, of which the best was Daniel who had the Preston 2-1 and two outcomes to give him a very good 5 points.

Happy Cup The draw for the FA Cup First Round is live on BT Sport on Monday, with Colchester having unlucky ball 13, and Maldon and Tiptree making the First Round again with ball 68. I will be going away for a few days so details of the Groups and fixtures for the first round games will be on a separate thread hopefully next Thursday.

In the Premier Having the Charlton 2-0 spot-on enabled thrillseeker to maintain top spot. An unfortunate missed week for TheFatGooner means he drops out of the top three, but on a low scoring week not too much damage done. Taking advantage of this are mfb_cufc and noah4x4, who both move up a place. Biggest mover in this division is basher2010, with his top scoring performance taking him up three places. With only five points separating top three from bottom three, and only 14 points between top and bottom, this division remains as close as it has all season.

In Division One Getting the Charlton 2-0 spot-on put ghughes11 back on track, after last weeks blip, and he increases his lead again, as his nearest pursuers had to be content with outcomes. In fact the next six places remain the same as last week, though BFG moved closer to a play-off spot. Just losing out on the most 3 pointer rule. Even though he only got the one outcome medicine_man is the biggest climber in this league, moving up two places as he takes advantage of burnsieespana and TheHappyGooner firing blanks. In a league where the 3 pointers were hard to come by this week, the other two who managed to get one, durham_exile and Lewis_1, both had the Preston 2-1, and enhanced their play-off hopes.

THE TABLES (58 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
