Palace saga over as Freedman appointed Tuesday, 11th Jan 2011 21:38 by Col Any worries of Keith Hill departing to Selhurst Park are now over, with the news that the Eagles have appointed Dougie Freedman as their manager on a two and a half year contract. On paper, there was never anything to worry about. The club had denied any contact and made it clear that any contact would not be welcomed. Hill himself had told the Ob that he knew nothing about it. But football doesn't always work that way, and with Keith Hill's odds on becoming the new Palace manager dropping to as low as 1-5 on Monday afternoon, there were great concerns that Keith Hill's four year reign at Spotland may well be coming to an end. And with Palace's apparent first choice Eddie Howe turning down the job on Tuesday, speculation was only going to continue linking Hill with the South London club. However, those fears can now be put to one side with the news of Freedman's permanent appointment at Selhurst Park, and whilst speculation will continue to link Hill with jobs especially in this silly season with two or three jobs becoming available every day, for now at least, we can sleep easy tonight.
