QPR v Spurs Betting Preview
QPR v Spurs Betting Preview

The lads are back to survey the scene ahead of a monumental weekend at the bottom of the Premiership.

You’d think by now our punters would know better than to back QPR to win – Andy and Brian blew £30 between them on positive Rangers bets at West Brom last weekend in amongst a blank week all round. Brian is now £191.60 in profit, Andy is £217.82 in the red.

Let me first start by saying I hate Spurs , the 82 cup final started it and many trips including that pain of a walk from Seven Sisters to the ground cemented it and despite trying to change his mind my younger brother Anthony supports them. If it’s between them and the SW6 mob for fourth place then give me a bottle of Newcastle Brown and a black and White scarf cause I hope the Geordies nick it. Rant over.

It will be tough but I think we can nick a win and will go for an outsider for first goal at good odds.

Southampton can clinch promotion at Middlesbrough tomorrow and the 9/5 on offer should be taken. If they fail to win and Reading do I am off to Ladbrokes with my voucher that has Reading to win Championship 16/1 placed in August. Could be a happy day.

The big race on Saturday is the Scottish Grand National at Ayr. Jonjo O'Neill sends Galaxy Rock who is partnered by AP MCoy and he can put the events of last week’s Aintree heartbreak behind him.

The World Snooker starts this week and the regular reader knows I normally tip Ronnie O'Sullivan. Well I am fed up of throwing my cash away on him so watch him win while my tip Stephen Maguire gets knocked out early doors.

For The Weekend:

£7.50 QPR to win 2-1 12/1

£2.50 Diakite 33/1

£5 e/w Scottish National

Galaxy rock 14-1

£10 win Red Merlin Ayr 2.50 6/1

World Snooker £5 e/w

Stephen maguire 14/1 ( 1/2 odds place 1-2)

£2 trebles and £2 acca

Southampton 9/5

Wallsall 9/5

Swindon 7/5

Portsmouth 9/4

It would appear that blank weeks come as often as QPR away defeats for me these days, as i drew another blank last time out. The only saving grace was that my accumulator was voided, albeit under tragic circumstances after the abandonment of Serie A matches following the tragic death of Piermario Morosini last week. My sincere condolences go out to his family and anyone touched by this tragedy.

I've clearly written off this season on here, there seems little point in attempting to claw back my losses as they head towards £200 in the red, like a scene in a submarine movie where it inevitably loses power and sinks, creaking as it goes further South. Instead, i'm going to use my powers for good again, like against Arsenal, by backing Spurs for the win. They are evens with everyone, so i'll send most of my money there. i'll also stick a tenner on Van Der Vaart to score anytime at 21/10, just to ensure that he doesn't score.

finally, i'm going to whack £20 on both teams to score in El Classico, which is probably the dictionary definition of printing money. you can currently get odds of 4/6 on this with Betfair.

For the Weekend:

QPR vs Spurs - Spurs win - £25 @ evens (BetVictor)

Van Der Vaart to score anytime - £10 @ 21/10 (PaddyPower)

Barcelona vs Real Madrid - BTTS - £20 @ 4/6 (Betfair)

The Pro

Professional odds compiler Owen Goulding tells LFW…

The 'clubs who have been wronged by Martin Atkinson' Appreciation Society meet on Saturday tea-time in a massive game at Loftus Road for both sides. I have to say, despite it being mentioned as far back as January on this site by many a 'worried' fan, I believe this is possibly the first real 'must win' game for Rangers this season. Or more to the point, it’s definitely more a 'must not lose'.

QPR are currently a best priced 8/11 to be relegated and it is starting to look like a match up between ourselves and Bolton. Wolves, as expected, have sunk like the Titanic and Blackburn have slowly imploded with the behind scenes issues that were always bubbling just under the surface rearing their head again with Gael Givet's outburst this week. A superb performance by Wigan at the Emirates has pulled them clear of what looked like certain relegation a few months back.

They say fortune favours the brave, and no manager has been braver than Roberto Martinez in recent weeks. His adoption of attacking wing-backs and a philosophy of taking the game to the opposition, regardless of club stature, has been an extremely successful policy and one to be applauded.

It brings me on to the point of QPR. Hughes decided to tweak his team after the excellent Swansea win and bring back Shaun Derry to 'shore up' the midfield. I am a big fan of Derry but I was surprised at this move and I hope he is more positive this week. Spurs are on a downer while we have been decent enough at home in recent weeks. If we are going to go down, let’s go down in a blaze of glory. I hope he recalls Cisse to the starting line up. He can cause an average defence trouble as long as he can stay on the pitch. I can see goals in this game and think it may be more open than expected. I expect both teams to come out flying here and my bet for the match is a goal to be scored prior to the 16th Minute with William Hill at 2/1.
