Haigh promises exciting times ahead as Friday press conference announced Thursday, 20th Dec 2012 18:18 Leeds United have called a press conference for the morning when the long awaited takeover of the club by GFH Capital is expected to be completed. It was back in May that the club confirmed they were in negotiations with mystery investors from the Middle East and after a long, drawn-out saga it emerged Bahrain-based investment bank GFH Capital were the preferred bidders. GFH completed a 33.3% shareholding of the club last month and the final part of the deal is expected to go through as scheduled tomorrow. Typically there were rumours that the deal was yet again on the brink of collapse and it was speculated that a payment had been missed, there was also talk of a late rival bidder emerging to hijack the deal. Present owner Ken Bates admitted there had been a "hiccup" at the weekend but it seems certain the club will fall into Arab ownership on the last British working day before Christmas. Earlier this week David Haigh of GFH and his colleague Salem Patel were seen at the Football League headquarters in Preston where approval for the buyout was confirmed. Haigh, who joined the Leeds board last month tweeted this morning "shame we didn't win last night but lots of excitement to look forward to. All will be revealed ASAP #lufc #mot." Haigh, Patel and Bates looked on as Leeds crashed out of the Capital One Cup to Chelsea at the quarter-final stage on Wednesday night. However the decision to retain Bates's services as Chairman until the end of the season before he becomes the club president was jeered by a large number of fans inside the stadium who chanted "Bates Out", "Kill the President" and "You can take Bates with you when you go" which was aimed at the jubilant Chelsea fans.
