Away Days - Walsall

Away Days - Walsall

The Johnstone's paint Trophy - formally the LDV/Autoglass/Sherpa Vans/Freight Rover etc was the next game for the Swans. As us fans with nothing better to do travelled the short distance to Walsall (That's not in Poland!)

Ugo's coach left the Quadrant at 3pm for this exciting encounter. We were left to watch one of the daftest and silliest films was shown on the bus - Scary Movie 4. It did pass the time I suppose though.

We arrived in Walsall, at around an hour before kick off. We had a drink at the Walsall supporters bar, it was a nice little place and most of the discussion was about Leon Knight!

The programme was just a quid as it only contained a few pages, their 'One to Watch' was Leon Knight. I didn't think at the time they would need to worry too much about him.

The Bescot Stadium is an odd looking ground, at first it looks a Mecano set, also one stand is much higher than the others. We were sitting, some of us standing, in a different place to last season, we were in the corner of the ground (behind the goal last time), with two pillars blocking certain areas of the pitch.

What it must be like for the unfortunate person sitting that may have to sit directly behind the pillar I do not know. They wouldn't get to see much of the game.

It was a typical LDV (I'll still insist on calling it that) atmosphere, not much of a crowd there and many of the home fans were spread out. I don't know what the official figure for away fans was but it wasn't a bad turn out for a midweek Mickey Mouse Cup game. Around 200 I would say, maybe more.

The bus arrived back in Swansea at around 12.30pm (I think - can't remember now!). Next two away games are Northampton (Cobblers!) and Peterborough in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Halloween, scary.
