Chelsea Winger Hopes Subside

Swansea's hopes of bringing Chelsea winger Scott Sinclair to the Liberty seem to be diminishing

It was always likely to be a long shot especially for a player who has spent much of the last two seasons out on loan already.  And with a new manager at the helm at Stamford Bridge the rumours started that he would not want too many of their younger stars loaned out for any length of time.

And Sinclair is one of the biggest hopes that they have for the future meaning the chances seen even more unlikely although they have not completely been extinguishged.   Upon taking over at Stamford Bridge, Scolari said "We have some young players who will play an important role. I told them this when I spoke to them on my first day."

That role is likely to extend to Carling Cup games although with a greater number of subs available this season in the Premiership there is a chance of some places on the bench.

Sinclair though hopes to be able to impress his new boss before then with the European Under-19 Championships coming up later this month "I went to train with Chelsea and did a few runs to get my fitness up. " he told Sun Sport

"I met the new manager while I was there. We didn't have a one-on-one chat, it was just a normal squad meeting and all the players were there.

"He introduced himself to us and he came accross really well.

"He said hello to all the lads and told us what he expected of us.

"Over the next few months we'll find out more about what he's like as manager.

"But my first impressions were that he's a really nice guy.

"Obviously he's got a lot of experience and has won the World Cup, so it's going to be great to work for him.

"I'm looking forward to getting back playing.

"Hopefully I can go away with England and do well.

"There's a few Chelsea boys out playing for England, so this will be our chance to show him what we can do.

"He will be getting reports from the tournament on how we are doing.

"We're just going to perform to the best of our abilities and hopefully we can impress him. "
