Young R's Clinch the Title

Rangers Youngsters secured the Puma Youth Alliance League title this afternoon with a 3-2 victory at local rivals Brentford.

Following a few nervous weeks, Steve Brown's side finally clinched back to back titles this morning. Although it was a bit nervy at times. The R's led through Aaron Morgan-Cummings goal at half time, but were pegged back after the break with Brentford scoring twice to go in front. But Chris Arthur bagged a brace that clinched not only the win, but the title for the Young R's.

Youth Team Manager, Steve Brown told the Official QPR Website;

"Yes, it is great to win the League, but it has been our performances that have pleased me the most. Some of the football we've played, particularly earlier on in the season, has been outstanding.

I spent a week with Bayern Munich's youth set-up recently, and one of their coaches said to me that winning is important, but - at this level - it's not everything.

When teams play Bayern Munich it's like their Cup Final, and that was similar for us this year because we won the League last season. Everyone we came up against really wanted to beat us.

I'm very excited for the future. There is a lot going on behind the scenes to try and get QPR back to Academy status. Returning to Academy status would mean we would be playing teams like Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal. That's what this Club deserves."

Rangers Youngsters finish the season at home to Brighton, on Saturday 26th April, Kick Off at 10.45am.

All home fixtures are played at Imperial College Sports Ground, Sipson Lane, Harlington, Middlesex.
