Saints Chasing Sturgeon
Monday, 20th Apr 2015 10:46

Saints have been spending a lot of time in Portugal recently and they have a specific target in mind accoring to some media sources.

Saints reportedly sent scouts to watch the Portugese league clash between Belenenses and Benfica and this is not the first time they have been to watch Belenenses play with this being perhaps the third or fourth time they have run the rule over the latest midfielder to be linked with a move to St Mary's

The player in question is Fabio Sturgeon.

An English sounding name and this is because Sturgeon has an English father and a Portugese mother although the 21 year old was born in Portugal.

Sturgeon who is described as a midfield playmaker joined Belenenses as a 16 year old and only made his League debut two years ago and has also made appearances for the Portugese U20 & U21 side, the latter for which he made his debut in the 3-1 defeat to England back in November.

Saints are not the first English club to be linked with him though, Liverpool were linked last year although their interest appears to have cooled and according to the media Saints scout for the visit of Benfica at the weekend was joined by ones from Aston Villa and Wolves.
