Saints "Shaw" To Benefit If Manchester United Qualify For The Champions League
Monday, 20th Apr 2015 15:31

Saints could get a big financial windfall should Manchester United qualify for the Champions League for next season.

Saints drove a hard bargain when they sold Luke Shaw to Manchester United last summer and according to mdia reports they could be about to benefit by several million pounds should United secure a top four finish this season.

Champions league qualification is seen as essential to the Old Trafford Club and could be worth around £40 million to the club in increased revenue, that being the case the powers that be at the club were determined to secure the players that they wanted to achieve that aim.

Ironically Shaw has not played as big a part as you would expect from a player who cost an initial outlay of £28 million according to most sources, however Southampton drove a hard bargain in negotiations and allegedly there are around £5 million of add ons that could be paid on top of the initial transfer fee.

One of those according to media sources is Champions League qualification and United qualifying for next season's competition was worth so much to them that they were willing to pay perhaps the bulk of the add on figures if they succeeded.

United still have a bit to do before that qualification is secure but they will be fairly confident of completing the job in the next few weeks with only LIverpool looking like having a real chance of catching them from the teams outside of the top four at present.

That being the case then more money will hit the coffers at St Mary's and help us continue with our team rebuilding.

The money would be great and Shaw finally looks as good as he was for us last season , in his last game anyway .
