Turnbull becomes Leeds sixth signing
Wednesday, 15th Jul 2015 17:02

Leeds have signed a Champions League winning goalkeeper of sorts. Although Ross Turnbull never actually played in the Chelsea versus Bayern final, he got a winners medal from the bench and the 30 year old agrees a two-year-deal with the Whites.

The Newton-Aycliffe born stopper began his career with Middlesbrough before a shock 2009 transfer to Chelsea on a free. He spent four-years as a back-up keeper at the Bridge before his release and since then has had two-seasons in League One with Doncaster and then Barnsley.

This story initially emerged last week however Leeds gave a trial to Jack Alnwick and I heard rumours there were concerns about a back injury Turnbull was supposedly carrying however it appears the deal has gone through and Leeds get an experienced keeper for free on a two-year deal.

To me the transfer screams "back up" and I don't expect Turnbull to dislodge Marco Silvestri unless the Italian gets injured or we decide to rest him in the League Cup. This is the second keeper we have signed this summer following Charlie Horton's arrival from Cardiff.
