Saints Sniffing Around Sunderland Defender Thursday, 10th Aug 2017 10:35 Saints transfer radar is still in full swing despite what the club may say publicly and the latest link is to a deal with Sunderland
Lamine Kone is the latest central defender to be linked with a move to St Mary's, although born in Paris and playing for the French International set up to U20 level he has represented the Ivory Coast at full international level and joined Sunderland in January 2016 and helped them escape relegation that season although the following year he was not so lucky.
Sunderland are willing to sell at the right price, but what that price is is unclear.
Everton have been interested in him in the past, but the two clubs linked now appear to be Saints and West Ham who are already looking to move Jose Fonte on after a less than impressive start to his career with them last season.
Kone knows what the Premier League is all about so would be less of a gamble than soe others who have been linked.

He was booed when taken off in the friendly 5-1 defeat against Celtic for not trying. He has, like VvD been 'working to rule' during pre- season. But recently he has supposedly changed attitude, and knuckled down. As a result he is now back with the 1st team squad. Sunderland fans are anxious to see him gone, he is a bit hate figure from their relegation season, and one of the last left up there. The club also will be glad to get one of thier highest earners off thier books. Depends which Kone you get!!! His first season up there he was good and attracted a few higher rated teams. But last season he was inconsistent after a run of injuries. Kone in his previous season form would be an upgrade, but not on last seasons showing.

Wasn't he one of the players pointed out by a drunk Darren Gibson as 'sh*te' and 'didn't want to be at Sunderland'..?

Interesting article: Why Everton dodged a bullet not signing Lamine Kone Despite being riddled by injuries, the 28-year-old has quickly gone down in the opinion of Sunderland fans after some very bad performances. Poor positional play and minimal effort. A nasty habit of wondering from out of position making Sunderland vulnerable, has seen the struggling side concede a whopping 50 goals. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-dodged-bulle

No thanks. Would not improve the squad at all and would be below Florin Gardos and Alfie Jones in my opinion. If I wanted to see a defender from a relegated side it would have been Harry Maguire (great work by Leicester to get him) or Ben Gibson ( still available).

So what's wrong with going for Christensson it would take another record buy or earlier smalling was touted around for 17 million, come on saints make a statement that you have ambitions, as it seems we are shopping in Poundland for players

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Leeds United Polls |
