Leeds United to host Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup Friday, 15th Jun 2018 14:04 by @LucasMonk_ Marcelo Bielsa's first cup match as Leeds United head coach will be at home to Bolton Wanderers. Erstwhile Argentina boss Bielsa, 62, was confirmed as Paul Heckingbottom's successor this morning after protracted negotiations, and he has since learned that Bolton Wanderers will constitute his new side's first opposition in the forthcoming season's Carabao Cup. United have enjoyed relative success in the competition in recent seasons, with Garry Monk leading the club to the quarter-final in 2016-17, where they were defeated 2-0 by Liverpool at Anfield, before reaching the fourth round under the tutelage of Thomas Christiansen last season, losing 3-1 away to Leicester City. Ties will be contested in the week commencing Monday, 13th August. Notably, the draw for the northern section also sees Frank Lampard's Derby County travel to recently relegated Oldham Athletic, whilst Scunthorpe United will host Doncaster Rovers in a keenly contested derby. Furthermore, Sheffield United will face Hull City in a Yorkshire derby at Bramall Lane. Meanwhile, there is also an array of local derbies in the southern section. Bristol City shall host Plymouth Argyle at Ashton Gate, Gillingham will make a short excursion to The Den to face Millwall, and Swindon Town are to do battle with Forest Green Rovers at the County Ground.
