Jamal Blackman joins United on season-long loan from Chelsea

After rampant speculation, Leeds United have finally completed their second signing of the summer transfer window...

Leeds United have today confirmed the capture of rangy goalkeeper Jamal Blackman, who moves to West Yorkshire on a season-long loan deal from Premier League Chelsea.

Blackman, 24, spent the entirety of last season on loan at Sheffield United, for whom he made 33 appearances in all competitions, and had had loan spells with Middlesbrough, Ostersunds and Wycombe prior to joining the Blades.

The 6 ft 6 Croydon-born stopper, who has represented England at various youth levels, becomes the second Chelsea fledgling to join United on loan this summer after Lewis Baker sealed a move a few weeks ago.

Viewed as a star of the future by the Blues, he will battle Bailey Peacock-Farrell for the goalkeeper's jersey throughout the forthcoming season following the departures of both Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan - and he could well feature for United in tomorrow night's friendly away to Forest Green Rovers.
