Grayson wants to extend McCartney loan.

Simon Grayson is desperate to keep George McCartney at ER beyond Monday night.

The Northern-Ireland left-back is due to return to Sunderland after the visit of Cardiff City and Grayson will approach Steve Bruce about another extension to the players' time at ER.

Grayson told the YEP today (Saturday) "I've been delighted with him (McCartney).

"He's shown the qualities that made him the Premier League player he is and worth the money he's gone for in the past.

"He'll get better with more time on the pitch.

"You always want to keep good players and I've spoken to Steve. If

there's a deal to be done then he's somebody I'd like to keep."

Worryingly Fede Bessone is nearly fit again. The Argentine defender has been an utter-flop since his much feted move from Swansea. Grayson's other alternative Ben Parker is slowly building up his fitness. Grayson also admitted Parker "needs more games" before he is in contention.
