Turning up the Amps: Swansea preview
Friday, 28th Mar 2025 10:29

Ethan Ampadu is expected to make the matchday squad earlier than anticipated as Leeds host 16th placed Swansea at Elland Rd, kick off 3pm on Saturday.

The skipper appears to be available two weeks early and it will provide a timely boost for Leeds, who have somewhat wobbled in recent weeks.

The Swans are currently managed by Alan Sheehan, a former Leeds defender who recently replaced Luke Williams. They lie in 16th with nothing much to play for. Sheehan was unbeaten in his first three games but Swansea have suffered successive defeats prior to the international break.

Earlier this season on a rainy day in south Wales Leeds won a seven goal thriller with Willie Gnoto grabbing the stoppage time winner. Prior to going on international duty, Gnoto had been tipped to take the number 10 role off Brendan Aaronsen having replaced the American at half time at QPR. However Gnoto injured his ankle playing for Italy U21's and is rated at 50/50.
Personally I think Farke will stick with the same starting X1 who began the game at QPR, which ended in a 2-2 draw. So as someone put it, we will see Aaronsen in doing his best impersonation of a dog chasing a balloon!

Swansea have brought in coaches Mark Fotheringham and Richard Stearman to assist Sheehan, but the general consensus is this will be a home banker. Yes I know this is Leeds we are talking about and a stumble against a so called lesser team goes hand in hand with a promotion run-in, but I think we will be chomping at the bit, especially as both Sheffield United and Burnley are at home. So I'm going for a confident 3-1 win.
