We are not the Evening Post or the Western Mail. I have no journalistic background. No English degree or A-level. The magazine is supposed to be light hearted, not to be taken serious but to ask the odd Swans question to get people having a conversation in a pub. To be totally honest, it is generally really popular when we drop them off. We print 5,000 copies and 4,995 of them aren't where we left them the following month and so some people like them enough to take them home with them after reading them in the cafe, pub, barbers or wherever they see it. Some people enjoy it enough to read it online and then in print. Some of you onle like it enough to read it from start to finish every month and then complain about it: I can't please everyone sadly.
I am always happy for advice and ideas to improve it. As I said earlier, I don't have a degree in this, I have no qualifications whatsoever, useless at anything with my hands and am pretty work-shy too and should in all probability be unemployed but have somehow managed to develop this magazine (as amateur as it is) into something which keeps me busy.
My humour isn't for everyone as the humour on here isn't. I often find I need to scroll through a load of people saying 'your a t@at' 'no your a t@at' before anyone actually says something. Personally, I don't find that amusing but clearly this site is incredibly popular and so there must be many people who do find that hilarious. We all differ. I still come to this site as a first point of reference. If I go camping for a weekend for example and am out of the Swans loop, this is always the place I will come to catch up.
It has crossed my mind to go on some sort of creative writing course or something although I do think that the mistakes and amateur feel of the magazine is what makes it what it is. It isn't supposed to be rivaling newspapers, I am not trying to be a journalist.
As for Canas and his lawyer. I'd like to think he firstly has something better to do. Secondly has a sense of humour as it is clearly not a serious article and thirdly, he has enough money to see me as worthless :) | |

Well I thought it was an amusing read and very obviously tongue in cheek (the Canas piece). This site has had a sense of humour bypass recently, so I would worry too much about it (which you're not by the looks of it).
You do need to make sure the contributors spell Garry's name right though!
