It beggars belief that with squads of 25-30 players that we ever did away with the reserve matches. Whatever happened to the Central League which was played midweek? It was an ideal opportunity to encourage younger players to get involved with some of the more senior players (perhaps returning from injury or suspension) and pick up fitness and experience.
If the call came for inclusion in the first team squad they would be more ready than having been sat in the stands ! | | | |

The Central League still exists. Hull are the current champions. The only reason we no longer play in it is down to KoKo's love affair with money and not wanting to spend any of it on football related matters. As a consequence he withdrew from the competition. I don't see how we can say we have got a reserve team unless it is entered in a reserve team league which plays regular competitive matches. Arranging behind closed door friendlies has been done by all our managers, other than Jose, but not on a regular basis, which is required to maintain match fitness! | | | |

Just for the record, it was Holloway who took us out of the Central League, along with the majority of sides, in favour of behind closed doors games for the Development squad and others.
To be fair, he originally had a game every week, but that's been allowed to slide. |  | | |
