Well done Curt 16:58 - Dec 28 with 8356 viewsmrrockin

Superb job so far, I feel confident we'll get results again. I wouldn't have any issues with him staying till end of season.

He's doing the prefect caretaker job - grinding us through game by game on passion, belief and trying to restore a few of the basics. (to some extent what monk did post laudrup)

This will only last for so long, and will run out of steam - the big picture visionary is needed to build on this little bit of momentum.

That said a couple of back to back wins and everything will look so different.

Nonsense-'run out of steam ? Far from it. Whatever was happening under Monk, now seems to have stopped and let's not forget this squad is definitely good enough to stay up.
It's not rocket science- talented bunch of players underperforming- AC comes in and restores some confidence and slowly we see an improvement in results.

well won't go on forever imo. we have upped our game and grinding out results. (apart from an city wherethe shackles were off) need to move up a level if we want to see quality again.. not sure curtis cut out to take us on that journey.

you disagree.

we shall see. or not, if there is a new appointment.

The fact is G.Monk was not good enough, it took some longer than others to realise it. Probably those of us who have played the game for instance.

People who played the game took longer to realise it?

How come?

Mrrockin must be some kind of visionary and saw something no one else saw.

They don't count, they're just looking from afar and they're judging us perpetually based on what they see as us being a small club. ~Whether that's right or wrong they will say 'what an amazing job X is doing down there' - it's all so patronizing.

Ok what did you see that wasn't right. There were also local Welsh based pundits who praised Monk last season- who would actually be at the games, but I'd love to hear what you saw? .

There's many attacking the Tories on another thread. Presumably rockin agrees with them because they will eventually fail and be thrown out of office.

Well I can only speak as someone who was a huge advocate of the Swansea Way before Martinez even took over. When Martinez took over we set about reintroducing an old philosophy that saw us with successive managers achieve success by being financially prudent and always focusing on the long-term.

Under Monk we drifted a long way from this focus and it was never going to work because we still have many at the club including Curt etc who are fully paid up members of this club. For Monk to totally transform the team in his image he had to remove all obstacles in his way including the likes of Ashley Williams who it became clear was not comfortable with his methods.

It takes time to shift a philosophy as it did when Martinez took over from Jackett, but I said a long while ago the proof in the pudding will come 15-18 months later when the team has been remolded in the news managers image.

I'm not an ideologue, I understand it is important to be pragmatic in tactics but you could see our shift had become a bit more enduring and I've always said for Swansea City to succeed we don't have the financial muscle, we always have to be a step ahead both on and off the pitch.

Curt has hinted as much in interviews with constant references to 'playing our football' these words are not said as throw away line they're a statement. It was plain to see we had an unhappy camp this year and that many were not happy with the new methods. For Swansea City to prosper we have to stay true to our principles, look at Man Utd they're not the same since the abandoned attacking football. Some clubs have a philosophy, we're one of them we have to stay true to this.

You can tell when a team is performing as one and we simply were not doing so. That's why I would rather take till the end of the season if necessary to get the right man.

The board are seemingly not going to rush into appointing a manager and if Curt continues to do the business then its possible he might be asked to fill the roll of manager till the summer.

Its pushing it to expect us to get a result at Old Trafford, but if we can get past Oxford in the cup [a draw will not be the worst result in the World] and beat Sunderland at home in a very important game then if the board have not got the man that they want and Curt on the back of 1 win 2 draws and 1 defeat, then lets say loses honourably at Man U, gets a draw with our second team at Oxford and beats Oxford at home in a reply with a mix and match team line up and then beats Sunderland in the Prem and we have not got one of our main targets as manager, then Curt in that eventuality should keep the job until the summer as if those results happen coupled with the 4 games he has already had it suggests he can keep us up and perhaps we would be able to get one of our first choice managers in the summer.
January is not necessarily the best time to do business as regards buying 'name' players or getting a 'name' manager, although there might be some 'name' managers available without compo, so who knows.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

One thing that has got me wondering these last couple of weeks. When GM went, some of our coaching staff also went, so who's doing the coaching now? Surely Curt isn't doing everything? A new manager will usually bring in his own coaches so if Curt is kept on as interim manager for much longer, will we not have to address this gap in the staff and who's job would it be to find decent candidates?

I get the vibe that HJ/board came to their senses regarding Pep, Beattie and KOL and woke up and realised those three idiots were in fact 'Anti-coaches' as opposed to actual coaches. The longer they stayed the more backward the clubs playing style would have come because they would have coached away and permanently taken away everything that was good about SCFC playing style/ high standards of previous years.

It is some utterly unique situation this?....... i.e. not replacing them with any immediate incoming replacements says "absolutely f#ck all is better than the whole three of you combined". What a damning indictment that for their future prospects? None of them will ever pollute top standard football ever again. Thank f#ck!
