Technically you are correct.....once Hull had lost to Sunderland 3 wins would keep us up......but how many would have settled for a point?.......now we know 2 wins are we are safe

That's exactly the scenario we were discussing on the way home. We win, Hull lose, game over. But even if Hull draw, provided we win, they'd be 3 points behind us with a 6 or more GD deficit so that would effectively be game over too. The good thing for us is that next week's game between Palace & Hull is a must win for both teams with them playing Man U & Spurs respectively on the last day. [Post edited 6 May 2017 21:50]

Not a great deal to be gained in getting a point, as we’d still be behind Hull, and relying on them dropping more points. The job is not done yet, but having it in our hands is what we want. If Hull lose to Palace next week, great, but we need to beat Sunderland regardless.

Don’t you like all this tension - surely we’d not want a boring meaningless game to end the season?

Man U and Spurs may both be on the beach on the last day.

Yes, but they're both better teams than Palace & Hull and the point is, neither Palace nor Hull would relish having to win to stand a chance of survival.
