Polls close 10pm. BBC, ITV and SKY release the results of their joint exit poll also at 10pm. Some of you may remember election night two years ago when the exit poll predicted a Tory win. It was roundly ridiculed by politicians of all parties and most us on here. You could see Professor John Curtice (who oversees the poll) visibly wilting and wondering if he'd just wrecked his career and reputation. The same Prof Curtice got progressively more smug as the night rolled on and it turned out his poll was more or less spot on.
First result due about 11pm. From Sunderland.
The outcome may be a foregone conclusion but it should be exciting for about an hour or so.
Get it stickied for 24 hours or so please, mods.

If that analysis on Scotland was correct, it shows a few things.
Davidson far more effective as a leader than May. If Rudd loses her seat, maybe Davidson can be persuaded to enter parliament in a safe seat.
The Scottish campaign also seemed to have resonated better with the public - keeping the union, rejecting the Neverendum etc. | |

I don't see how she's got credibility after the whole bribe that wasn't or maybe it was debacle. If the Tories had offered them money to stand aside, you can bet a report to the police would have been made and her memory remained intact. | |

Maybe not incredible, Lisa. Neverendum fatigue. Experience of SNP in government up there. Could be a number of factors. I'd be surprised if they lost that many but not surprised if they lost some.
The BBC analysis of the Sunderland constituency figures a few minutes doesn't make a great deal of sense. UKIP was 22% last election, Tories 18%. 62% leave in Brexit ref. It just doesn't seem credible to me that should the UKIP vote collapse as expected that those voters would back Labour. That just seems odd; you'd expect Kippers to be more likely to back the Tories. | |

The reality is that EU membership either way is way down the list of people's priorities when voting in GE.
