What a ludicrous thread. Surely the fact he’s only now getting a move to a lower half championship side proves he’s never been good enough to play for us over the last 7/8 years. |
The players we kept instead all failed.
Then we paid lots of money for over half a dozen Scots plus Grimes etc. Again all failed to date - Oli needs to make an impact this year so we will see on that one.....
A local player we released for nothing has been the most successful.
This gives our fan base no confidence in the hugely expensive Academy set up.
The Academy that stood by and watched our relegation - save local lad Roberts who was already at the club before the big money went in.

Jazz Richards, Shaun MacDonald and Gwion Edwards are all local boys that other Championship clubs want at least.
We gave them all away and they would all be valuable squad members this season...yet we're going to be crossing our fingers and hoping Jay Fulton and Matt Grimes work out.
Jazz would have done better than Kyle Naughton these last few years I reckon. |

As you know the total investment in the Academy since we hit the big is far more than £5m, it cost £10m to build, let alone run.
Yes Huw might have wasted it, or he might of got lucky - who knows ?
It does not detract from the fact that the Academy has been a drain on resources to date. Clearly that will not continue in the Championship. Or will it ?
When we get the choice of developing a Gwion further, or bringing in an unknown from elsewhere - called say Kenji ? - then we lazily pick the latter. Thats the wrong call. Good for Gwion. Massive embarrassment for the club. Clueless, honest to God. | |
