How on earth is he still getting any game time?

Surely it has to be Naughton and Roberts from here on in, if fit.

Other than his complete brain**t I don't think there was much difference in the quality of his performance to Roberts or John!

Worst left back for many a year

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

His problem s that he is so one footed that he is very limited. If you look at the howler yesterday it would not have happened if he could use his right foot. He tried to run with it instead of hitting a clearance with his right foot... the rest is history. We see it all the time.

I think Roberts has been worse at right back so far this season. Both flanks have been feasted on by opposition players. Apart from the glaring error that probably did kill the game, I didn’t think he was the worst out there yesterday. That accolade goes to Christmas Carroll.

Seriously, he should be made to train only using his right foot. I remember Frank Lampard saying that when he was 9/10 he could only use one foot, so his coach made him use the other foot every time he trained. Soon he could use both.
Wtf some players can only use one foot is criminal. We have quite a few of them.

Roberts problem, if you watch him during games, is that he will have 2 players to mark. So he comes inside every time to mark, and then has someone overlapping.
That starts with Ayew picked on the wing, who also has a free role. So his full back is free to bomb forward.
Watch it next game. It's easily resolved. But Cooper hasn't spotted it yet!!!

Bidwell has Celina in front of him and also defaults inside and leaves space outside. Plus there’s bugger all midfield cover for either. I just think Roberts gets cuts a lot of slack that Bidwell doesn’t even though they have been on a par all season. At least Bidwell does get the ball into the box when he lumbers on to it. Roberts first thought is alway to go back.

Naughton is better than both, in both halves of the pitch. Just keep him away from throw ins. Even allowing for our total lack of movement a Naughton throw in is one of the most painful sights in football.

Why are left footed players constantly called "One footed", yet right footed players are called "right footed" ??

Routledge is as one-footed as Bidwell. Most right-footed players aren't as limited as either of them.

They're not. One-footed players are called one-footed. Just so happens that we have an abundance of left-footed players who struggle with their right feet so much that they almost exclusively use their left.

As a counter example, take Kyle Naughton. He's right-footed, but is comfortable on his left - hence why he's played left-back so often. It's a definite advantage which is why he always looks comfortable on the ball. Similarly Leon Britton.

It's true, though, that there are "very" left-footed players (Messi, for example), whereas you don't see "very" right-footed players. It's a left-brain/right-brain thing. That's why so many artistic people are left-handed.

Routledge is the most one footed player on the player on the planet ... right footer.

Our top scorer barely uses both feet, if he could he would be a Champions League player.

I think "comfortable" is overstating it when it comes to Naughton's left foot. He's not terrified of using it, which is better than the rest of our fullbacks, but his right foot is still his preferred one by some distance, sometimes not always helpfully.

Then again genuinely two footed players are rare. Perhaps the best example we've had was Jason Scotland, where it was hard to tell what his strongest foot was.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

The difference is Potter recognised the talent in the academy was better than he could attract.
Arguably he brought on James, Rodon, Byers (when he was good), got the best from Gimes, Hoorn, Roberts and McBurnie while introducing B.Cooper and Harries to first team football.
