LR atmosphere and new standing sections 12:14 - Jan 3 with 4809 views | FleetRss | Does anyone else think the lower loft standing section has had a negative impact on our home support this season? I was surprised at how quiet the crowd was last night despite us being in the lead for most of the game and with a crowd of more than 14k. It seems to me that when noise is created in the Q, P and R blocks, the roof causes the sound to reverberate around the ground which prompts fans in other sections to sing up. However with many of our noisiest fans now in the lower loft, any noise created in that section just dissipates. Have we made a mistake in where we’ve put this section? Would we be better off encouraging fans to stay in the Q,P,R blocks by converting Q and P to standing? Interested to hear what others think (maybe it’s just our terrible home form to blame)

It won't happen because this country is health and safety minded. We can't increase our capacity like Fulham and Chelsea did as the ground is boxed in so we have to move. |
Viability of Loftus road has very little to do with capacity - concourse / concessions, hospitality and facilities for non-match day revenue is essential.

LR atmosphere and new standing sections on 17:42 - Jan 3 by Hayesender | 2-2 game in 85? Well over 30,000 inside Loftus Rd that day. Couldn't get a cigarette paper between you and the next person |
That’s the one. I’ve never before or since seen LR so utterly rammed full. Definitely more than the official figure and probably over any allowed limit.

I was in the Paddocks area when it was all terraced in about 86/87 when we played Man U. That was rammed and was getting dangerous. That weird wave motion started happening when those coming in from the back pushed those in front who then started pushing back. My dad told me to get on the pitch just before kick off which then started loads of others getting on the pitch. We eventually got moved to the upper loft.

LR atmosphere and new standing sections on 17:52 - Jan 3 by colinallcars | I seem to remember a home evening early season game v Wet Spam. It was a hot sultry evening and SA Rd was packed. Don't know the official crowd but there was talk of Hammers fans getting counterfeit tix. |
That was the ‘David Pizanti’ cup match which we won 3-0 or 3-1. Saturday afternoon match which was delayed for over an hour due to counterfeit tickets circulating in the Wham support. Had people relocated to sitting in the aisles in ER in order to accommodate everyone. Could you imagine that being allowed nowadays?

LR atmosphere and new standing sections on 14:53 - Jan 3 by hertshoops | After half a season standing again, I forget the seat is there even at HT Added bonus is saves knees from having to keep standing up for tossers further along the row with small bladders 2nd half Atmosphere in there is miles better this season |
You might be more sympathetic towards tossers with small bladders when you get prostate cancer. Although most them are probably just people who had a skinful before the game.
