I reckon Steve knows he has to get a gig this summer.. Being out for too long affects marketability for his trade.

Was his pay off from Forest full and final or is it dependent on his time out of a job, remember it wasn't long since he signed a new contract. If it is it would need a decent offer for him to accept a position. Similar to Potter biding his time.
