Terry Currie WHAT STAN SAID! now, tell me what I have wrong here?????

I Love Stan Bowles, we all do, but can I add a few facts and look at his comments.
" I had never heard of Rodney Marsh before!" Well, the League Cup was on TV, Rodney had played for England, and there was a movement in the papers to include him in in the '70 World Cup Team. He has also written his first autobiography. All the top City and UTD players knew who he was and offers from a lot of clubs were made, he was a Star- But a fellow player didn't know who was in the England team or held the League Cup? mmmm!
All the '67 players I have met say that photo on the cover of Stan's book of him reading a paper waiting for a corner, was done by Rodney as far back as Fulham!
he would also warm up by juggling oranges and coins and opening and drinking lager fans had thrown on the pitch while he went defenders!!!!!
The thing we have of Stan and not Rodney is all the footage.

" He only did it in the lower divisions anyway" The team that included Rod, went from third to first division and won the League Cup against a first division team. He went to MAN CITY who were clear at the top of division 1. Rodney was thrown in that team, which Franny Lee, Mike Summerbee and Colin Bell blame on the Manager. Franny Lee " We should of bought Rodney but Malcolm should of waited until we won the title, then prepared Rodney for the new season, you can't blame Rodney for that!" (There is a DVD on amazon called 'MAN CITY IN THE 70's'- the legends they concentrate on are- Bell, Lee, Summerbee and Marsh!) after the first season, his skill in that company was amazing! he later became Captain) Remember, Rodney was bought by City to rival the skill of George Best across town- That should tell you something in itself! buy the DVD, he was an all round team player by then... it's on film!
Stan was bought with the money from that deal. Fans were desperate for another Rod and were calling 'STAN-LEEEEEY' (The 'ROD- NEEE' chant) before Stan had kicked a ball!
So, " He didn't do it at the top" is rubbish!
Rodney played at Fulham with George Best. We have all seen the footage, they were on a level par skill wise- How many can say that about George Best, even George said it!
How many photo's have you seen of Rodney signing a MAN CITY shirt- Hundreds, what about Stan? NONE!
Man City, Carlisle, Crewe and even Bury got rid of Stan.

" George Best was the only player better than me and we were great mates" Rodney is in EVERY Best book and DVD, I don't see Stan!
Rod say's "We used to do the round in Chelsea, The Phene Arms then Poochies Pizza a couple more pubs and back to the Phene" they were also always on tour together. Rodney used to go the back way into the Hospital when George was ill, he still finds it painful to talk about. George never bothered turning up for Stan's testimonial. Rodney, on the other hand was begged to go and flew from Florida to be there, then they had a photo taken pulling a number 10 shirt, which Stan refuses to sign, but he made a fortune from it then. Rodney did not get even a thank you, so he and George met up. Stan is only mentioned in Georges books while going through the 'Mavericks' list. You can check all this, these are not opinions, they are facts! Stan never really knew his idol.
As for "I'm second only to George Best" well, that's a classic!

I have been with Rodney countless times and not once has he mentioned Stan, where all Stan talks about and is asked about is Rodney. Before one meet, I was told "Don't mention Rodney or ask him to sign anything with Rodney on, because he will storm out!!!" make of that what you will.
Rodney happily signs anything.

Rodney is an extremely successful businessman, Stan is a gambling addict and as he say's himself "The drink has got me bad."

In the NASL, Rodney was a God and still is in Tampa (See the web site- the Tampa Bay Rowdies Appreciation site) he was a pioneer in the NASL, every famous player was over there from Best, Cruyff, Pele, Hurst, Moore, Alberto, Beckenbauer. Osgood, the list is endless!
Tampa Bay usually got the better of the Cosmos who had Pele (only 32), Beckenbauer, Carlos Alberto and loads of other internationals. There is a photo of Rodney on his knees, daring Pele to get the ball of him!!! the commentator said
"Once again, this Magician Marsh has outshone Pele... Big time!"
Don't think they were playing idiots out there, everyone went there long before Beckham! and in Florida, Marsh was king!

Stan was in a team with Gerry Francis, Don Givens, Don Masson,Terry Venables (Who Stan didn't like either,) and the underatted, fantastic Dave Thomas... Not to forget the back line!
But when he left that comfort zone, he joined Forest which was a sham then Orient, then Brentford in division 3 then retired. 3 years after leaving Rangers, he was a 3rd division player!! and that was it.
Rodney managed Tampa and then went into property..... there is a huge IQ difference.

"You see Stan walking down South Africa RD, but not Rodney, Stan is one of us!"
He may walk down the road, but he NEVER goes to the games!
He's great if you bump into him, but don't bother making an appointment with him. I had a meet all sorted at the Sheffield game a few weeks ago, he didn't bother going, after I had drove 100 miles to be on time and he only lives in Brentford, he has done this to countless people, " One of us?" a man riddled with addiction.. Great!
Now people are going to have a pop at me, but these are all facts NOT opinions!
Rodney, has NEVER not turned up or been late when we meet. And you have to remember, he has stories of Pele, Cruyff, etc, etc (I have about 20 Tampa games and Rodney was the genius NOT Pele, to the point that Pele stuck his finger in Rodney's bad ear and made it bleed in pure frustration!) Ask Ian Morris at the Tampa site. So, Stan Bowles is never brought up, people think it's this great rivalry and both are obsessed with each other, Rodney had nothing to do with Stan. In fact, the only QPR player from later years he calls a genius is Tony Currie.. it's on film folks. I wanted to know what Bestie was REALLY like, things like that.

"Rodney better watch out, I know some bad people!"
"So do I Stan, and they are bigger than the Quality Street Gang, if you want to play Gangsters lets compare who our close friends are. And the man they call 'MR BIG' in Manchester is a very good pal of mine who I kept contact with when he was on CAT A for Contract Killings.I know the top man in every town and I wasn't a lackey running bets. I was at the top table of my own unlicensed fights drinking Champagne with Freddie 'Brown Bread Fred' Foreman (You will find a photo of us in his book, called 'Brown Bread Fred- UK's GODFATHER') Roy 'Pretty Boy' Shaw, Charlie Richardson (The gang the Kray's feared and known as 'The Torture Boss' and Tony Lambrianou ex Kray Firm member. Charlie Bronson (Britain's most violent prisoner) and Ronnie Biggs I always visited in nick. Try these links.

I believe Gav has read it, what did you think Gavin?
Stan, keep going on about the Quality Street Gang is really making you look a prick!!!! give it a rest. If you had of ever turned up, I would of told you this face to face! CLEAR?

"I knocked the FA Cup off the stand by the touchline"
No you didn't, Tony Hazell did!

Stan, you were a great player, no Genius but you were good, why make yourself a bitter, twisted, Jealous fool in every interview?
You must have know Rodney was at the club a couple of Months ago, why didn't you come and pull him then?
A deceiving thing about Rodney is, despite his fancy footwork, he is 6ft 2" and a solid 15.5 stone, he trains everyday.... it's very, very, deceiving!!!

Rodney actually said to me, Stan was a Great player, that's all he has said about Stan, because if Rodney is going to say something, and it gets him in trouble, but he will say it to YOU! I love that, because you know where you stand.

The thing that made Gerry Francis leave was a clever set up by the Chairman to get Gerry to leave by telling him Rodney would be a sort of director of football. But there was no job and Rodney didn't know Gerry had not been told. Gerry got the hump and left. If the idea was to get Gerry out and Rodney in, why wasn't Rod QPR Manager??? They were both set up!
But Stan uses this in his armour as well, Gerry doesn't.

And Rodney Marsh is QPR through and through. Stan Bowles could do something like coaching the kids or being a rep for the Club like Tony is at his club and Les Ferdinand is now at Spurs.... He decided to give nothing back to the club and that's his choice.

These are all facts ladies and Gents, if any Stan fans come (With a false name as usual!) please make a valid point.
We all love the Club and would love Marsh & Bowles on Stage or something, but when you know someone who has been good to you and you read the same crap in every interview ...... it's time to stand up and be counted..... or what kind of friend are you?
Cheers
