I agree, although he can positionally be naive at times, both with us and since returning to Spurs, he is definitely a player with all the tools to succeed. It's good to see players willing to leave a bigger club for game time. It certainly will be a learning experience for him playing in a team that will be under the cosh quite alot, but I am sure the financial security of a good wage on a long deal will cushion some of the pain he may suffer this year. |  |

No Bellamy, Cornelius etc so not exactly the first team - hell Don Cowie was playing.
Caulker came on second half, won everything in the air, some nice passing but for me seemed out of position at times, wanting to get forward into midfield exposing Turner and the full backs.

Chievo were mid table Serie A, Bilbao mid table La Liga. Useful tests I guess to see where we're at or about.

Palace will do well to make 20 points at the moment. Holloway does have experience on his side though and many would have said the same thing about Blackpool 3 years ago.
The two autos looked much of a muchness last season. Problem is that only really Sunderland or Stoke of the surviving clubs looked all that weak at the end of the season, and both have changed manager. Don't think their timing is the best ... division looks as strong as it has in a long while. That and, to be fair, I don't think the style of play of the two sides coming up will worry too many of the existing clubs. | | | |

Bit of a generalisation that.
Early pre-season games are all about fitness more than anything. Like last season,we did a "tour" to Switzerland where rather than playing games, morning and afternoon training sessions occured. Rationale being that preparing, travelling to and from games can disrupt and take time out - hence using additional training sessions instead.
You'd expect the performances to improve, side gel for the later games as the season gets near. Even so, still very much a split squad -our DVP played Hereford same time "main side" played Chievo.
Suspect we'll get almost the entire starting West Ham side out there for the Ath Bilbao game. | |
