Despite being injured for most of the last year, Taylor should still comfortably finish ahead of Ki in an 'award' like that. Says it all really.
How can a Welsh international be nominated for Asian player of the year? I know Neil's mother is hailing from India, but he plays for Wales (and Great Britain at the Olympics), not India. On top of that he was out injured for most of last season.
I guess the reason he's nominated is because of this visit to India this summer, as part of Premier League and British Council's program for cultural and educational opportunities:
But it looks like the Asian Football Awards actually hasn't anything to do with the Asian Football Confederation, but is held at Wembley, supported by the English FA, for Asians playing in the UK: http://www.asianfootballawards.co.uk
