I guess the point is, there is absolutely nothing (or at least there shouldn't be) in the rules about predicting the same result for every game (I've done it enough) - if that's what you think they'll be, then those are genuine predictions - so really, there should be absolutely no reason why someone who knows they're going to be beyond t'internet connection shouldn't be allowed to make an across the board 2-1 sweep in advance. Of course, it does raise issues for those who set the fixtures, pick six home-bankers and that might be construed as unfair, pick six hard to call evenly matched games, and the across the board prediction strategy looks a little grim...so I guess it's all down to what matches are picked, and by whom...

Gerry, that's why I called it a gray area above. Ethics was flying to Oz and I was supposed to give her a heads up about when the fixtures were to appear. When someone implicitly states they'd like credit for 2-1 scores that's never been moved from the picture. Etho made it back to The U'sual anyway, but back to your point. It was agreed amongst us (and on the soapbox of Have your say as well) that 2-1's without an actuall request for them was unfair to the rest of the PLers. But post that request and two weeks are allowed.
I don't believe anyone here takes necessarily great pleasure of moving up the table at the expense of someone who missed a week, especially if there are mitigating circumstances. |
Fair point Pete although whatever happens to Ethics won't affect my position! She's in a different league to me.....in both senses.
