Pre-season and Perpignan – Awaydays
at 09:02 29 Jul 2025

Thanks Clive for another superb article, that sounded exactly the start to the season that has been missing and a lot of French Bon Homie in the process.

This posting by Beans comes across as a cheerleader for Nourry, maybe he's on work experience and trying to impress the boss, it really does scream a Qblockpete scenario.

We accept that Cifuentes was going to leave because of his poor relationship with Nourry, some people said it was toxic, if that's the case he had no option but to explore other avenues even though he wanted to stay. As somebody else has said because Nourry was Hoos man he was safe knowing he had his backing and that the board who operate from a massive distance would only back the Manager till the end of the season, they deemed it the least amount of upheaval.

Whether you like it or not Nourry is hugely inexperienced for the very Senior role that he has been given, Man management is a skill that you learn over years, this shouts of somebody imposing himself with his ideas and strategy and just maybe not working in the smartest way when it comes to dealing with his staff.

What's totally crazy is we've all just started to move on a bit, not happy but realised that we have a new manager who needs our support, it's our club not Nourry's he will be gone at some stage and the fans will still be there.

Clive is an independent journalist who does a fantastic job, he spoke with the genuine fans in Perpignan and got their feedback, that's all he did but you saw that as a crime, the people he spoke about in his post are long time supporters with very valued opinions and as you realise includes the WLS journalist in case you were not sure.

Kelman:Here We Go
at 12:16 27 Jul 2025

Like a lot of people I would have liked to have seen him extend his contract and stay but that offer was rejected so we were left with no option but to sell and as you rightly say we've got more for him than the other five players so that seems a result.

The trick is to use that money wisely and get good replacements, it looks as if we may have made a good start with Burrell, he seems to have power and pace which has been seriously missing.

Agreed that's a positive something we desperately lacked last year, pace, power and energy was missing in a number of games.

Hoping we're still looking for a left back because I'm not convinced Larkeche is the answer, do we give him the first few games to see how he's developed, having Steve Bould shouting at him week in week out may help.

Certainly sounds that way, the Nourry transfer tombola charges on, the strategy seems to be if you get enough new players through the door the law of averages says a couple of them should make the grade.....

Great finish by Dave all that's proved is that Wiegman has been poor with the substitutions, never mind were back in it and the momentum should hopefully be with England....

Absolutely amazed with the reluctance by Wiegman to make earlier substitutions....

Your probably thinking of Steve Black who was brought in whilst Redknapp was Manager, he very sadly passed away at the age of 64 in 2022......

If it was the Hughes era then NLondonhoops suggestion is probably spot on.

Marti to Leicester…maybe

Again it's all guesswork, very few facts available, maybe Marti was leaving but why did he say he wanted to stay, we will never know.

As you can guess I'm in the camp of not being happy with the way it was handled but it's done now, we move on and support the next man.

That was brilliant, he could be our best signing of the Summer, not sure how we got him but credit where it's due so we'll done CN.

Lots of great banter but being old school I found the line to Tuck a classic...

"Did that get in your boat, love it mate, you need a few scars"

As others have said the media team doing a very good job

Very true it's anonymous so Lassel could well have been feeding us a line as to where he got his information, the story about his wife working in a senior position at Hammarby seemed very plausible, I would be interested to know Clive's take on his input.

Martis employment history certainly shows he never stayed anywhere too long but he did walk round the ground before he left and when asked was he staying he replied I hope so, again something reported on here but it shows he did want to stay but was being pushed out of the club by Nourry.

Anyway whatever we believe we have a new Manager to support now, he's got a tough job again and needs that support.

Take your point bad choice of word, using the Redknapp example is check mate.

Still think Marty had to sell himself to Leicester and tell them exactly what happened from his perspective, they then decided to offer him the job, we can all decide for ourselves if that means anything.....

We dont know the facts but we are led to believe that Nourry wanted to sack Marty last October and that Ruben stepped in to stop it happening, results picked up and we all thought things were ok. That obviously wasn't the case and Marty was on borrowed time, somebody posted that Nourry wanted him out at the end of the season, IF Marty knew that then obviously he would have his agent putting feelers out to other clubs.

The gardening leave was a total fiasco and has cost the club money, finally Marty had the opportunity to speak to other clubs. I'm guessing like everybody else but I'm sure Leicester would have wanted to know all the details from Marty's perspective before they went away and considered his job application, my guess is they did not find him duplicitous otherwise there wouldn't have been a job offer.

Are we likely to lose any of our better players to Leicester now ???

According to some people on here they are due a points deduction, fire sale of key players and a potential transfer embargo so if the latter applies it's a definite NO

Agreed we have been told the relationship with Nourry was toxic, they obviously disagreed on a number of issues, therefore Marti knew that his future was going to have to be with another club. Nourry is Lee Hoos man so had his full backing, it sounds as if Ruben overruled them once in October to save his job but that wasn't happening twice.

I always thought once Marti had an opportunity to get an interview he could tell the new employer his side of the story, they would obviously want to know what exactly happened, so I'm guessing the Leicester owners don't see him as a disruptive influence and that it wasn't all his fault which some people seem to want to take pleasure in suggesting.

Jeez that's not the point, the injury condition Steve has is not good have a read on the Internet, it's supposed to have complete rest for months.

No we are not going to remove the captaincy from Jimmy if he gets injured, they are planning ahead for the season and quite possibly making a very sensible decision which may well have been Steve Cooks idea in the first place.

Its all guesswork nobody knows, we do know that Jimmy is good friends with Steve and that he gave him his support at the team meeting when it was announced.

I go back to my previous post because I think this is more to do with his injury and Steve knows he could be unavailable quite a lot, who knows it may well have been Steve's idea to give Jimmy the captaincy.

Surely the issue with Steve Cook is the plantar fascitis condition that he has developed which will presumably mean if he's going to play we will have to very carefully manage his workload in training and he can't be expected to be available for all the games so again we have to manage which games he is available for selection.

Hopefully with sensible management we will get a decent number of games with Cook in the team, fingers crossed because he is still an important player for our defence.
