The first pub on the right after walking up the station ramp always has a lot of Rangers in it. Never walked to the ground from the train (loads of cabs coz of the station and grab one after the game),so no idea how stiff a hike it is. Older stadium situated in Deepdale, a very 'northern mill town' area, though surrounded by scenic rolling hills. One year, I was surprised to see a coach full of fans pull up beside the ground and read 'Preston North End Irish Supporters Club' on a banner at the back of bus. I spoke with a couple of them and indeed they do have a small but steady fan base in Ireland.
Next time I'm passing Slane Castle, I'll stop in and ask Henry Conyngham what he thinks of those ragamuffins who don't even know how to spell the family name!
When in town, this is my usual means of transport for getting to a home game. Having previously experienced delays on the Clapham bound line from Willesden Junction, I / we, just hop on a Richmond train (if they're running), alighting one stop later at Acton Central. Turn right outside the station and you will almost immediately notice the entrance to a park, walk diagonally across this recreational area and you'll be on the Uxbridge Rd in about 5/6 mins. All in all, the Askew is less than 15mins from the station.
Back to the OP - not a fan of MMA. Used to watch a fair bit of boxing, but interest has waned. As for the participants, if beating people up in a ring is your thing, then fire away.
