We have scored 52 in the league with with the exception of Halifax (46) is the lowest in the top 8. York have scored 22 more goals and Barnet 29 more. Their defensive records are also better with fewer goals conceded. My fear is that the model for a promotion winning team (Barnet) is not in the managers DNA and he will recruit the type of player he signs to fit into his philosophy and formation. How many of our players would get into the Barnet or York teams? An earlier thread singled out some individuals and whilst the players must take some responsibility it is probably unfair to judge until we know how they are being coached tactically. Beckwith looks a shadow of the player he was earlier in the season. For example, Gilmour and East are both good players but will be overrun in a two man midfield by better teams such as York with a more compact structure. They need support which is not forthcoming from our wingbacks. Our forwards made Cam John and his fellow defenders look like class act last night. Their performance was toothless. This is not all down to Kairo as he is presented with relatively few chances by his team mates It is clear that the manager needs to change whilst there is all to play for. Looking forward he needs to recruit a different breed of player to get us out of this league sooner rather than later. Jim referred to financial clout in his post match analysis but this is only part of the story, for example Felix and Armstrong who were both star performers last night were I believe free transfers. So our recruitment hasn't been great in terms of personnel or formation. We have not had our own 1st choice keeper for some time now? The standard of this league probably dictates 3-4 good quality signings, a core of journeymen and a sprinkling of younger loan signings. In the short term, I hope we can sign a keeper and a forward to pep things up. |

Disappointing half. We are 2nd best with York much sharper and overrunning us in midfield. We are ineffective in the final third again giving their keeper a very comfortable evening. Need a big improvement with early subs. |

No reason why we shouldn't get a result tonight if enough players bring their A game. Although they are a strong team York have not been in great form recently. |

Our shortcomings in the final third also relate to the fact that our midfield players and wing backs very rarely contribute goals. For example Ayinde should have burst the net with his gilt edged chance on Saturday. In addition we hardly score from corners and set pieces. |

Really disappointing performance and result to cap a poor week achieving one point against two part time teams. Scoring enough goals is a real problem for us despite our neat possession. With the exception of Oldham other results appear to have gone our way so we are still sitting pretty and York lost. |

Late fightback but not enough to save a point and on the balance of play a fair result. Can't concede three at home and expect to win. We over elaborate in attack and both Hendo and Bird goals proved that we should be shooting more often. Don't think we looked like scoring from any of our 16 corners. Still no harm done with Halifax and Alty both losing. Need to restore confidence at Maidenhead on Saturday. |

Hope that we pick an attacking formation with Bird and Kairo/ Hendo. Burger is also worth another start at home. Also that we take our opportunities when they are presented rather than being shot shy and trying to walk it into the net. looking forward to the game and hopefully 3 points. |

In my view our commentary team are knowledgeable and professional, however they can sometimes struggle with technical matters. I do agree with you on the Beckworth penalty though. Lots of other clubs are much more biased and less objective. Actually I would like our commentators to be more pro dale! |

Halifax, York (and Barnet ) all in good form. Boston also won to-day but an opportunity to rotate a few players? |

A good away point. We have nothing to fear from these in the play offs. If anything we were a bit unambitious and shot shy in the second half. |

Who are the commentators? Amateurish and biased. No wonder the Latics are deluded! |

1-0 up and it could have been more. Bird making a major difference. Perfect away performance so far. |

Good win. Well done to the players improving goal difference ahead of the forthcoming fixtures this week. Also BJ managed the substitutions and resources well without any new obvious injuries and it looks as if the squad is strengthening with EEL and Burger back. Any further news on Gordon or Rodney? |

Gateshead looked like a lightweight version of us. Despite the missed chance Mitchell played with more fire tonight and might have had a goal with better control. Barlow made a difference and Kingdon was excellent on his debut. Need to get a result on Saturday against a team that lost 0-4 tonight. |
