Saw a trailer for The Gorge, thought it looked interesting, but it was one of those where the whole film was in the trailer, and it was obviously not going to be as interesting as I originally thought and I also feel like I've already seen it!
I said the same about those two shots. Also the first episode where the camera is keeping up with the cars at the start and then ends up in the house, some crazy planning involved
Watched the first two, it's brilliant TV. The acting is fantastic, and the one-take camera work is amazing.
Yeah the "it takes a village" narrative and the nuanced way it shines a light on the challenges of being and raising a kid is.... Troubling, to put it mildly
I'm sure I've posted it before but I love Mike Flanagan, Haunting Of Hill House is one of my all time favorite shows, I've watched it from start to finish a few times. Midnight Mass is great, and Haunting Of Bly Manor (loosely based on Turn Of The Screw) also very good. The more recent Fall Of The House Of Usher was good in places too, especially the first few episodes.
Edit In Haunting Of Hill House they hid ghosts on screen throughout that aren't seen or referred to by the characters, so you're always peering into the shadows wondering if you can see something hiding, very cool
Yeah Jared Harris is excellent in it. Watched it quite a few years ago on a whim without really knowing anything about it, loved it. Very unusual vibe, quite haunting.
Ha funnily enough I'm DJing this weekend and have been on the hunt for a house remix of this! Ive heard this before but it's not quite right for my usual stuff.
I'd not seen that, and have to say it is quite a compelling piece, convincingly laid out, although it feels to me like there is more going on than just 'it's a heist', as important as that is.
It's hard to witness the spectacle of a public cheering on a fat orange man and a gurning man-baby deranged by ketamine vandalizing their country without at least speculating at the psychology of it. Something I've been thinking about is that Trump 2.0 is almost the perfect conclusion to a decades-long process in which politics became increasingly and more barefacedly cynical, and electorates have become more and more resigned and, perhaps more importantly, nihilistic. I think liberals, even now, struggle with this point -- you can't just keep pointing out that Trump is corrupt and has no respect for the institutions of power -- because no one really cares any more.
On the whole Putiin's puppet thing - i mean, I thought Corbyn and Sanders were Putin's puppets a few minutes ago? Hard to keep up with it. But I think if your analysis of problems all the way from "where did Corbyn come from" to "why is Trump doing that?" keeps giving you the answer 'it's the boogy man again', it isn't quite right.
Frey's an easy guy to like, and he took his penalty really well. But the past two games his hold up play has looked really poor. In fact their second goal originates from Frey losing a ball in to him after a heavy touch. It's definitely an area we're struggling with at the moment.
I bet that was ace, and can imagine it fitting their set perfectly, I've always said TNK sounds like a chemical brothers track. Far and away my favourite Beatles tune, although I think of it more as a George Martin tune tbf
