Dunne off?

Play-offs? Get stuffed today and we'll all be worrying where our next 12 points are coming from, especially without Dunne and that fancy dan Soton loan in there instead

Well good luck Jimmy but I fear he will sink without trace at Sheff Utd, especially if they get promoted. He needed some time with us to bed in and I wish him well but I think he will struggle. Hope not, enjoyed him whilst he was with us.

Thanks Clive, your previews are as excellent as the reports.

As sad as it is about Jimmy - would be so tough to lose someone with such heart and commitment, but we all know what can happen if he were to sign a new contract. Sheffield Wednesday nullified him easily last week and no doubt that would become the norm and within a few weeks we're wondering why £2m wasn't taken.

Would much prefer he stayed, became the best RB in the championship and the heartbeat of our side for many years, but if he were to leave we'll get over it.

I guess my main frustration is that we should be able to keep hold of the Dunne types. Good, but not great. All commitment and heart. As you say, get the contract renewal offers at the right time, something it seems we have been poor at. It's the really good ones we won't be able to keep.

You are of course right, Dave, but it is tough to take when he has been so important to us. But we have to put our big boy pants on, and realise that if in fact he did sign a new contract with us his form would soon disappear / leg explode etc.

A real test of the club and the plan, this.

Yes, best of luck to her. Hopefully she can serve a few years there than come home to lead our women's team to the WPL.

Agree - I really miss his late night show. Gordon Smart was so boring in comparison and gone over to podcasts now.

Ha -- no. But Colin did end the show with "QPR 1 Birmingham 0" (opponent was a Birmingham fan) - not something I ever thought I would hear on Countdown.

She nearly killed a long-running show single-handedly with her venomous ways (off-set as well, allegedly). Colin is totally the opposite, brought back the warmth and I think is the best the show has ever had. Not that I work from home and watch it, you understand.

I think his name was Ted. Not our Ted, nor likely to be anyone on this board as he gave his favourite players as Adel and Kevin Gallen rather than Barry Bridges and Rodney Marsh.....

Worth picking it up again - Colin Murray is really excellent on it. Revitalised it.

Go Ted today!

Santos gone.
at 07:17 30 Jan 2025

I tell you what, it is a very good sign for me if we have managed to turn a remarkable profit on Santos. This really does show the model is working if players we've bought have had a terrible time yet we are still getting money for them - compared to the struggles we've had in the past to get any money back on signings. Age and profile of signing really helping.

No fan of Nourry but props to him, or whoever is involved, for this.

Edit- or did we pay money for him? Can't remember.

Oops was on wrong thread too.

To mirror my point there, as I know nothing about this, is there a thought that you take a loan like this from Spurs even if you don't necessarily desperately need it, because if it goes well we could get a far better loan for the whole season next year? Like a testing exercise?

New Year transfer window rumours
at 09:31 29 Jan 2025

Do we need bodies that are wingers, though (if that is what he is)?

Chair / Smyth with Saito, Dembele soon to be back and of course Alfie can play there.

Sometimes I just feel like loans like this are something you need to do because it is Spurs, and if we behave nicely one day they might let us have a superstar young striker for a season?

It is happening according to WLS.

I just don't understand loans like this. Appears very unlikely we will go up or go down, so what is the long-term point?

> if he is amazing (which he won't be), it won't be enough to get us promoted and we will never sign him so just blocking Dembele when back or Chair or Saito if he is actually ours

> if he is average, just learning on our time like Ashby

I just never really understand it. Yes, if we were in bottom 3 or top 6, but if not, what is the point? Obvs when he nutmegs 4 Wall players to get his hattrick on Saturday I will probably get it :-)

kids and grand kids....
at 08:34 28 Jan 2025

As the poster above says, all part of being a parent. Very difficult to say no and make them not "fit in", but also worrying. How about making a deal that "find a friend" has to be on their phone? Always made us feel a little bit better.

On the other hand, plenty of positives in being out and about and socialising rather than inside gaming all the time, which is what 99% of kids seem to do.

Oh well.

No complaints. Rohl clearly an excellent manager and his tactics were spot on. Definitely a reality check that mid table is our aim at the moment and we are way short of anything more. We could do with Ilias finding his form and with Cook and Morrison soon to replace Fox and the Southampton player, we will get a little stronger.

Was right behind the Nardi first half save, absolutely magnificent.

Onwards!

Leicester defeat a disaster??
at 17:58 24 Jan 2025

As ever you put into words far better than I can what I feel.

Disaster was never mentioned. Ongoing frustration at sacking off the cup every single year, absolutely. Wasn't even necessarily based on the one game. Wasn't even necessarily the team selection, but Marti's in-game "ah well who cares?" approach during it, just as much.

And yes I am glad we won the next two games, but I will have long forgotten those in two years' time, compared to 9.000 Rangers at Old Trafford.....imagine Kolli and Morgan and Smyth against Maguire et al. It's those moments I remember from the past, rarely the league games.

Gosh, yes I hated that so much. So much. That West Ham cup tie and there was West Ham everywhere in SA Road. But when our third hit the net......loved it.

Yes - exactly. You just can't compare. I've been to home games in the PL watching Les, Ray, Wegs and barely 10,000 there. Or away ends at Chelsea that weren't sold out.

If I remember right, Loftus Road wasn't even anywhere near sold out for our SF against Liverpool in 86. Imagine that now, you would need evidence of a QPR tattoo on your genitalia to even be allowed to apply for tickets.
