 | Forum Reply | Rooney spouting incoherent rubbish on the B B C again. at 20:52 29 Mar 2025
Agreed, Rooney is a total waste of space and should come complete with subtitles. If you think it is bad this season, wait until next season - the new head of sport that has opted to get rid of MOTD anchor Line-acre (as Mick Channon used to call him when on pundit duty) has decided it is time to freshen up MOTD. It has been hinted that we may have to suffer ‘celebrity guests’ as pundits which could prove to be more irritating than Rooney if that is possible. We will also have to suffer the gurning Kelly Cates, God help us. Don’t mind Gabby Logan who is also joining up but can’t stand Cates. Sounds like this new guy wants to apppeal more to the yoof and the millennials who simply DON’T WATCH the BBC in any significant numbers, if at all… Still, we will all be forced to migrate to streaming our TV by about 2035 as they are after the bandwidth for 6G. Could have been by 2030 but the current services got a reprieve. I think when it happens, that will be the point the BBC disappears up its own backside for good. |

I certainly wouldn't begrudge the people tasked with making key decisions on behalf of the Club from having a remuneration package commensurate with their talents, in which case, the remuneration package commensurate with the SR directors abilities should be more like £12.80 than £1.28m for the top earner. They should not be rewarded for abject failure. |
 | Forum Reply | With Trump’s 25% tariff on cars, is it time that we stopped buying Teslas? at 15:34 27 Mar 2025
I think it would take 5 years minimum to get it up and running but what it would also need would be proper experience from within the industry which comes at and absolute premium and there is no substitute for it. You’d need so much to even hit the ground walking let alone running. Who knows though, when the idiot son of a space hopper realises what the tariffs will do to the industry in the current car industry USA as they still have to import parts and raw materials perhaps if we can negotiate a tariff free special relationship that keeps being talked about then maybe it would be a real boost to our export industry as we could be far more competitive on prices than any other country, but who knows with the village idiot in charge out there… You could buy a 5 y/o all electric Porsche Taycan for about the same money as some of the new plastic Teslas - I know which I’d rather have, if I had that much to spend on a car that is… [Post edited 27 Mar 15:52]

That brings back some happy memories - Buffalo Joe’s was a superb venue and one of those places you’d only find in Newcastle / Gateshead at that time - had some legendary sessions in B.Joe’s and yes, those cowgirls were a class apart in their matching cowboy hats and not an awful lot else! 😮 We also used to go into the Baja Beach Club near Buffalo’s on the Gateshead side of the Quayside area. From memory, there also used to be a good bar on a boat moored up near the Swing Bridge. Might have to look at a trip up there again for Sunderland or Boro away next season as I have not done a NE away trip for a few seasons now. Likewise, fond memories of some great nights out up there. |
 | Forum Reply | Apparently, there was a "big" "Derby" today at 17:00 23 Mar 2025
It ended Saints 0-0 Skates I think they have struggled to find a manager as good as Marianne Spacey-Cale was - she’s been moved up to oversee the operation of the whole female side of the Club but she’s a hard act to follow at team management level - and that’s without even factoring in SR’s track record on managerial appointments!! That said, when MS-C moved up quite a few of the best players left so the new manager had their work cut out to be fair… [Post edited 23 Mar 18:28]

A PA system where the speakers are out of sync - Number, Number, Number, 7, 7, 7, Terry, Terry, Terry, Paine, Paine, Paine… Really, really muddy pitches with no grass in the penalty area. Then a member of ground staff repainting the penalty spot at half time. Supporters climbing up the floodlight pylons from a heaving terrace to get a decent view of the game. A player (usually a defender) coming over to the bench to get given a sock tie (which were just thin white strips of material) the real reason was to get some specific tactical info from the bench that needed implementing. The player would then relay the instructions on to the other players on the pitch and drop the sock tie on the floor when the ref wasn’t looking. Chris Nicholl used to be the recipient of the sock tie and tactical instructions from our bench when he played for us. Half time scoreboards that were letters of the alphabet that got the scores manually added as they came through, usually by a man in a white coat. Some of those scoreboards ran horizontally at pitch level along the low wall in front of the stand near the halfway line. You were stuffed if you didn’t have a programme as you didn’t know who games A,B, C & D ect were without one. Golden Goal tickets and the anxious wait for the announcement if you had 20m 37s and the analogue clock above the main stand said twenty past three exactly when we scored the first goal of the game! At home games, the players chipping the pre match practise balls towards a member of the ground staff positioned up near the corner flag and said member of the ground staff catching them in a large sack! Wagon Wheels that were entitled to wear the name with pride! Nowadays they are about the size of the thermostat dial on my central heating! Players who drive ordinary cars - always remember Ted McDougall was considered flash as he had a brand new MGB GT in neon blue. One of the other players had a Triumph TR7 (can’t remember who). Erling Haaland’s new bronze Porsche has a spoiler on the back that’s so big you could sit three or four people in a line behind the car on barstools and serve them a meal off of it… [Post edited 18 Mar 19:39]

Well, they’ve both got home draws in the Q/F’s - Bournemouth host Man City and Brighton host Forest or Ipswich so I’d say Bournemouth have the tougher draw especially as it is City’s only remaining chance of a trophy this season so I am guessing Pep won’t be mixing it up with some of the youngsters as he has in previous rounds. That said, if Forest take Ipswich out that won’t be easy for Brighton either. The nice thing is no Man Ure no Liverpool, no Arsenal, no Chelsea, no Newcastle, just Manchester pigging City but nonetheless a refreshing set of fixtures as it allows supporters of clubs other than the usual suspects to dare to dream for once 🙂 |

Ivan Juric looks like the tour guide who worked at Dracula’s castle in Transylvania when we went there in 2003 the day before Saints played Steaua Bucharest away in the UEFA Cup. |

Likewise, just had a look - Jesus, it’s a good job Microsoft haven’t invented smelly-vision because the stench of BS coming off of their site would be overpowering! Surely this is a breach of the Trade Descriptions Act? One thing they do have correct though and that is under the Technology heading - through the use of leading-edge technology and digital tools - one thing they do have use of is Rasmus Ankersen and his laptop full of stats and databases - he is the dictionary definition of a digital tool 🤬 |
