O'Brien Whitmarsh & Ballard's midweek goals
at 23:12 12 Mar 2025

Joe O'Brien Whitmarsh and Dom Ballard scored for their respective loan clubs in midweek, O'Brien Whitmarsh getting the 1st and 4th goals for Accrington Stanley and Ballard getting an early strike in for Cambridge United against the club he was previously on loan at.
OK, I know it's only L2 but the O'Brien Whitmarsh goals were not bad at all especially his second one, but the Blackpool defending for Ballard's goal really belongs in a Carry On movie!

Southern team to make the cup final
at 19:57 2 Mar 2025

Well, theyā€™ve both got home draws in the Q/Fā€™s - Bournemouth host Man City and Brighton host Forest or Ipswich so Iā€™d say Bournemouth have the tougher draw especially as it is Cityā€™s only remaining chance of a trophy this season so I am guessing Pep wonā€™t be mixing it up with some of the youngsters as he has in previous rounds. That said, if Forest take Ipswich out that wonā€™t be easy for Brighton either. The nice thing is no Man Ure no Liverpool, no Arsenal, no Chelsea, no Newcastle, just Manchester pigging City but nonetheless a refreshing set of fixtures as it allows supporters of clubs other than the usual suspects to dare to dream for once šŸ™‚

"Ivan Juric looks like........."

Ivan Juric looks like the tour guide who worked at Draculaā€™s castle in Transylvania when we went there in 2003 the day before Saints played Steaua Bucharest away in the UEFA Cup.

Likewise, just had a look - Jesus, itā€™s a good job Microsoft havenā€™t invented smelly-vision because the stench of BS coming off of their site would be overpowering! Surely this is a breach of the Trade Descriptions Act?

One thing they do have correct though and that is under the Technology heading - through the use of leading-edge technology and digital tools - one thing they do have use of is Rasmus Ankersen and his laptop full of stats and databases - he is the dictionary definition of a digital tool šŸ¤¬

Who Killed The Magic Of The FA Cup for Southampton
at 20:12 6 Feb 2025

Well said ST - weā€™ve got one of those in our local dog walkers park. Likewise, a so-called Liverpool supporter who has never been to Anfield in his 47 years, we know heā€™s 47 as he buys the new replica shirt every summer with his name & age on the back. Pretty much chants the same super league mantra word for word. Contrast that with one of the park regulars who is a Chelsea ST holder and very much opposed to anything to do with a super league. Was very active in the protests when the ill-fated breakaway League crashed & burned and has said they are far better prepared should Uncle Tom (Boehly) try and lead Chelsea to the promised land again.
We have sat on our favourite park bench a few times and discussed this and heā€™s come up with some interesting thoughts. Obviously when it happens Sky and most of the other major broadcast partners will bin the PL and trot off to the ESL fawning at the feet of the slimeball six. But, will the all the current subscribers follow? He thinks not. For every one of those Liverpool followers we have both referenced - they donā€™t deserve the title supporters or fans - who will subscribe to the new ESL coverage he reckons there will be at least an equal number of current PL subscribers who wonā€™t. Would you? No. Would I? No. We did a quick survey amongst the regulars who were around at the time and out of 14 current Sky subscribers we got 3 who would and 2 who might depending on cost - which if higher than the current deal would be No. Not saying this is an exhaustive survey but Sky ect will need everyone to buy in as the rights deal will be eye watering. Add to that the disruption from the pissed off fans - he said the tennis ball manufacturers will have to seriously up their game šŸ¤£ - and it could be quite comical to watch from the sidelines as we enjoy our reclaimed League and domestic cup competitions minus the slimeballs. If most of us just shun subscribing to ESL matches how long would the likes of Sky and BT Sport last? Could be interesting to see what happens if the majority of their current subscriber base just turn their backs on it especially if it is more expensive as it will almost certainly need to be.

JWP available?
at 16:56 1 Feb 2025

Just had a llok on flashscore and the only Forest player down as injured is Hudson-Odoi so it looks like JWP was just left out of the squad. Be good use of our spare PL loan slot for the rest of the season.

Thanks Saintwizzler, just what I needed. I had an eye op yesterday and those 10 goals still look brilliant even through one eye as thereā€™s still a pirates patch over the other one! šŸ‘
I honestly believe the issue with England during the time Venables was in charge was personal. Le Tiss was just the actual signature away from signing for Spurs when Venables was the Spurs boss but Le Tiss changed his mind at the last minute and stayed with us. I think Venables held that against Matt and deliberately overlooked what was clearly one of the best players in Europe who given a proper opportunity could have shone for England and maybe even re-written the Three Lions lyrics with the skills others could only dream about. Shearer, Gazza & Le Tiss??? Not many opposition teams could have coped with that šŸ™‚
