I think it's a reminder that the US is a center right country. Voters ousted him after one term on the promise of more moderate, centrist and unifying leadership from Biden. They got very little leadership at all - he quickly was removed from public view as he went downhill cognitively. He should've steeped aside years, not months, ago. Instead, he stuck it out until there was a coup and ultimately voters were left with two poor choices (and Harris' VP choice was beyond a joke - worse than Palin in 2008, - it exposed her as weak and insecure; had she picked Shapiro they would've stood a much stronger chance of winning).
The massively low turnout for Harris vs Biden in 2020 (69mn vs 81mn in 2020) shows that there was limited resolve for people to "vote against" Trump given what they were served up for the last 4 years. Some of the more loony left stuff (think doubling down on in tact biological men's rights to be fully naked in women's changing rooms) also gave more rightward leaning voters a veil to hide behind rather than expose their more backward opinions.
Ultimately Trump's bark is worse than his bite and a lot of the rhetoric is a negotiation tactic as we saw last time round. Effectively the US has gone without any real Presidential leadership now for 8 years. Hopefully it and the world can muddle through another 4 and maybe a credible centrist Dem caucus emerges in time for 2028 rather than feeling they have to lean even further left. |

The reality is it's a choice between two poor candidates (again). The fact that one is really bad doesn't make the other a positive choice. The US has had 8 years of very poor presidential leadership and will have 4 more. As others have commented, the outcome of a narrow Trump loss is concerning given he will likely try to stir up trouble. Either way it's a depressing day. |

I got back from morning chores for the last couple mins of injury time and was flabbergasted to see us only 1-0 down and with a free kick and man city sending on Stones to defend their slim lead. Rather than pumping it into the box and seeing something happens we passed it around and it ended up back with Ramsdale who did a hit and hope to their left back who was all on his own and dealt with it until the whistle blew.
That is RM football and why we'll go down. Even with no time left and a goal down wed rather piss around with the ball than "risk the ball" (as I've heard him say so many times before). He'll be pleased he's bought some more time. If one point from nine games and last week's capitulation isn't going to change things, nothing will. We have terrible owners that think they can rewrite how to manage a club. It's really not much fun and there's nothing any fans can do about it. |

When they sacked Jones they said they were prepared to give him more time but his mental post match interviews forced their hand. So it makes sense they're going to give RM more time on that basis. It'll take a fans walk out at half time or similar to force their hand. |

OK but, like for like, we were in the championship last year and he went cold and he's gone hot in the championship this year (Wednesday are a championship team right?). Maybe he's young and a year older/better/more mature, I just wonder if we're instilling something that just doesn't translate to a match? |

Is there not a pattern here?
Les started multiple games for Chelsea and got injured hence he's with us for game time. But now he's looking a shadow of his former self.
Charles (I thought) started well but then struggled, now he's performing well.
I'm just wondering if we just have a way of coaching that works during the week but doesn't translate to Saturday 3 pm??! |

Fast, aggressively swift forward play and we score. Playing unnecessary passing at the back and we concede. Interestingly it was Downes that gave it away and he's usually in tidier than that. |

Of all the signing calamities we've had he's up there with Ali Dia. I'm sure he's a good player, but how we pay 10 mn for a known injury prone player while he's still injured is tantamount to complete incompetency in all departments of the recruitment team. Our back office is a complete joke including manager recruitment. |

Looks like a training session vs the reserves to give the first xi confidence. No real shape about saints other than having 2 men on saka. Can't pass and keep possession showing that other teams just wait for the mistake against us and good teams just out play us. |

I would hope the fact he was made captain (and is so young) is initiative that he will start going forward. I am worried though that ABL didn't even make the squad. If he knuckles down he and THB would be our best pairing. Martin clearly doesn't think so though. |

Picked the same line up other than changing the goalie despite saying he got it wrong vs Forest. The team that finished was much stronger but need to amend this ridiculous passing at the back. United will rest everyone and play the reserves knowing we'll give them a couple of goals. |

The numbers players go for now is insane. I know he had some injuries but I don't think he even started a championship game. 10 mn for him vs the quoted 18 mn price on Alacrez's head doesn't compute for me. (Although 12 mn for Mara seemed a lot too).
I remember when jap staam went to Utd for 11 mn and it was considered that no defender would ever fetch that much again! |
