| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 07:16:46 My first live game of the season. Finally got to see a different point of view on a game than having to rely on shoddy internet streams and biased MOTD highlights. Thought the game overall was extremely poor. The Championship game between both sides in 2009 which I was also at, offered a better 90 minutes of quality than the dribble we saw yesterday. You can tell both sides lacked confidence. I thought Nelsen and Hill had Pappiss Cisse in their pockets. It was only when Ameobi came on in 2nd half that the game had some life to it. Fabio got turned easily too many times, but also made 3 important challenges, one superbly in the first half to prevent a one-on-one with Green. Mackie's workrate was superb as always and Mbia provided a good link in deep midfield. He did try and get us to keep the ball at times, but our transitional play into the final third was abysmal. I don't remember us having a shot on target other than Taraabt's free kick in the last minute. When we did attack, everyone made bad decision after bad decision. Mackie did his best to lead the forward line after Cisse went off for us but we could really do with a bigger man up front. Like a Peter Crouch or a Kenwyn Jones for example. As poor as we were, I thought Newcastle were pretty bad themselves and if it wasn't for Ameboi, this game would've been 0-0 regardless of how long was played. Can only think 'Arry is waiting for January to make some neccessary signings this team needs. We need a solid spine. Personally, I'd love Chris Samba or Michael Dawson for defence, Crouch for up front with also DJ Campbell getting another chance too. |
