Why was Jamie Ward dismissed?
It was shortly after he had supposedly signed an extension to his contract as well.
There were a lot of stories of unrest in the dressing room at the time amid reports that McClaren was going to Newcastle.
One rumour doing the rounds was that someone threw a cup of tea at McClaren. Someone suggested that it may have been Buxton but it was around that time that Ward was banished into the wilderness .
Good luck to Jamie but not for tomorrow - we miss his spirit.

Bill's Take: The Possibilities Are Almost Too Horrible To Contemplate
at 20:54:45

Another sensible article from Bill.
When will Mel Morris realise that we need a manager who should be in charge of recruitment?
McClaren and Clement seemed to have little actual say in the recruitment process, probably yes or no to those offered to him. Nigel Clough had a support network out scouting for players which delivered Bryson, Russell, Martin, Forsyth and Keogh of the current squad also the returned Shackell - sold to fund aquisitions as was Brayford (sadly departed who would walk into the current team).
So who has been talent spotting our potential signings? Chris Evans or Sam Rush? Do we now rely on videos received from agents? Answers on a postcard, please.

Bill's Take - Bucko Must Go For Rams To Reach Potential
at 20:20:02

Interesting observation and research. Of course a small sample of data allows a lot of distortion of trends and the quality of the opposition always has to be considered.
What is important to realise is that Bucko would not be a first choice if Barker or OB were fit. Should we have brought in an extra centre back during the summer? If Brayford had stayed then he would have provided another option but he left too late in the ludicrous window to allow us time to recruit an additional resource.
Maybe Sam Rush could provide cover? oh no - wrong shaped ball!
All irrelevant now of course.

Clough Legacy In Tatters As GSE Write Callous Final Chapter
at 20:01:38

Excellent article with which I wholeheartedly agree - and also with the comments of Cap'nBob.
I think most supporters had accepted the idea of allowing Nigel to rebuild the club from the foundations upwards after it was so nearly destroyed by the disasters of the Premiership season instigated by wee Billy and the bad work continued by the comedian Jimmy Jewell.
Leroy Roseniors comments were interesting and quite fulsome in praise of the work done by Nigel.
And the timing is appalling! Apart from it being so early in the season wee Billy will be gloating in is porridge thinking he had a hand in getting a thoroughly decent man the sack!
How different would it have been if Jonny Russel had made a better contact with his header just before Forest scored.
I wonder what the players think?
Brian's players were ready to go on strike on his behalf until they were dissuaded by the PFA.
These days players have more power as Paulo Di Canio will bear witness.
Will Nigel go to the game on Tuesday like Brian did after he resigned?
Time for supporters to shake off the lethargy and let the owners know that without supporters there is no club.
And heaven save us from McLaren or Warnock.
Bring back Clough!

Bill's Take - Bland 'Pride Park' In Need Of A New Name!
at 10:02:41

Millwall have called their new stadium the New Den in recognition of the name of their former ground. If we followed that example ours could be called the New Baseball Ground - or would a certain section of fans consider it to be too Americanised?

Bill's Take: Clough's Failures Few Compared To What Came Before!
at 17:18:21

Good article Bill.
So many supporters seem to play fantasy football these days they forget that it is difficult verging on impossible to move out under performing players especially those on high wages - for some reason the name Claude Davis springs to mind as an example. Many of the players you mention were released at the end of their contacts. Also it needs to be remembered that when Nigel took over, Robbie Savage spent his Saturdays shopping in Manchester, trying to dispose of some of the £24k per week we were paying him, as someone had supposedly told Paul Jewell that "his legs had gone". In order to buy Savage Jewell had sold 2 of the players who could have stabilised the club in the Championship more quickly - Steve Howard and Matt Oakley. Nigel deserves a lot of respect in salvaging something from Savage. Under Jewell he'd been loaned to Brighton, then in League 1, and his last action was to be substituted when Brighton were 2 down and they then came back to win 3-2 .
I'm no supporter of Robbie Savage (and wish the BBC would terminate his contract) but at least Nigel got some contribution from him on the pitch for the money we were committed to pay him.
