It would work in theory but we don't have the people to accurately process the claims as quickly as this would need and the UN states asylum seekers should not be detained while their claim is decided but I don't think this is a legal requirement. In reality we don't have anywhere near the accomadation required to keep those claiming asylum and those whose claims have been rejected and are waiting to be deported. |

Yes. At least partly. The skills gap is different, especially since Brexit, now we need people to do the basics. I've been pillored on her before but just look at the nationalities of the stewards and catering staff in the stadium. The club would go under without immigrants. Why do "British" youngsters not want to do easy weekend jobs anymore? |

I'm not happy about it, it's totally unsustainable. You can't solve a problem if you don't understand it. Sending them back to France won't work at present and is very unlikely to work while there are thousands of migrants in France wanting to come here. We don't want them and neither does anyone else. |

We are bound by Article 31 of the UN Refugee convention. The Tories tried to introduce legislation that would overide this, it would come in to place after the general election. Of course this couldn't happen because we are bound by the UN Refugee convention. They were told this by the Law Society and others but it sounded great in a manifesto. They're not returning them, they're stopping them entering, we could do that but we have no land borders. |

Every business should be obligated to accept card payments. It would giver the conspiracy nutjobs somehting else to complain about as well as reducing fraud. |

We're full of legal migrants and not just refugees, but people we need to have in the country for various reasons so invited to come here. Legal migration pressure far outstrips asylum seekers and needs to be sorted. The modular houses in Cardiff are being built for those in most need. Not only immigrants, some will go there but it's not for that purpose. I noticed Tipping Point shared a Vlog about this a few days ago. The dullards referred to it as Greentown or something, becasue they couldn't understand the bloke who made the video's Caaaaardiff accent. Then this happens. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/people-living-one-wales-biggest-28 [Post edited 2 Apr 8:37]

I don't think any "smashing of the gangs" will have had time to take effect yet, most migrants in France have been there months, we also can't do it in isolation which is why international cooperation is so important. The recent organised immigration summit should be start. I also read last month that Yvette Cooper is the first Home Secretary to vist France to see how our funding to prevent migrant crossings is being spent in five years. FIVE YEARS. Throughout that time migrant crossings have increased exponentially. This government have got a massive mess to clear up. I'm not a Labour voter but the Tories should be embarrassed of their legacy. |

How is it whataboutery? We're legally obliged to consider claims for asylum, we give asylum seekers no more than elsewhere and have less asylum seekers. Per head of population we're only just in the top 20 of countries for most asylum seekers. |

They're not allowed to work legally. That could be a problem or it could encourage more to try arrive. |

It's no more than the majorityy of other similar countries to the UK and less than a lot of them. We also get less asylum seekers. |

There's a huge burden on local authorities, everything from social care to potholes. They're as skint as everyone but our tax to them is more obvious. I do object to paying more for a community council in my area that I don't need and don't seem to elect. It's about £50 a year. We have nothing the adjacent ward without a community council does. I honestly think was the cumulative 5% NI reduction the Tories introduced was a shocking piece of electioneering. The country needs the cash and they knew they wouldn't have to balance the books. It cost the country a fortune. Who'd elect anyone who said they'd raise taxes? We need to and that's just the start. |

These buildings are bought and sold every few years, at one time it was a company called Maya capital. It could be anyone now. They're usually let on a contract where the tennant has to pay for all refurbishments and maintenance. To someone it may make financial sense. To me it seems bonkers. |

It's not just the WG that do it though. I know the DVLA for example pays rent and has to maintain / refurbish most of it's buildings. Seems nuts to me. |

This is something I really don't understand with government, I know it happens a fair bit in Wales and maye other places. "Three options are on the table: staying in the red-brick office building behind the Senedd, and refurbishing it; a new building; or a combination of a newbuild and an existing office." Why are Welsh government lesing a building built purely for them and why are they leasing it and potentially paying to refurbish it? Why doesn't the landlord refurbish it? The owners must be laughing all the way to the bank! |
