It is just a target, i think it's set about right and if the club progresses on and off the pitch it's achievable. Setting it at 3500 would have lacked ambition. It doesn't have to happen straight away, hopefully the club will progress over the next three or four years, the product on the pitch and infrastructure of the club will improve and so will attendances. |

He's said similar things about players in the past and they have miraculously reappeared. If Bird is likely out for the rest of the season then he will have returned to Exeter and we will sign another forward today i would expect. Let's see what happens. He could hardly walk in those games but they still kept him on the pitch, it was bizarre. Probably a reflection on how poor our other forwards are. Something that's been evident since the season started. |

Good post. We have improved on last season but with the increase in budget afforded to McNulty that would be expected. We do have a stronger squad but the Ogdens are responsible for that. In general i dont think the entertainment on offer has changed at all. Frustration and a feeling of underperforming, 'what if' is always present, there are exceptions though of course. Even when we play well for a chunk of the game as we saw at Oldham. The ability to find ways of not winning games that we should and a manager who is reactive rather than proactive, the reactive invariably being much too late to alter the course of the game, Bromley in the FA Cup being the exception. He single handedly knocked us out of the cup in that game. I said before, he was the right manager at the right time during the upheaval of last season, some continuity and a manager who knew the club and the recent history. He deserves credit for that. It's about trying to put bums on seats now though and generating a interest in the Town and around the club. A manager who can lead the whole club and put a exciting winning style of football on the pitch is needed. At the moment we have Jim's Good Bud Club, it's more a bunch of mates and a manager who doesn't look as though he's got a good bollocking in him, never mind a hairdryer. His personality and interviews sends me to sleep, how can he motivate anybody when you listen to him speak. I'm even wondering if he's decided himself that he's not bothered about the play offs this season and all the associated pressures that will bring and the easiest option for him and his players is to just concentrate on the Spennymoor game. I hope those in the Boardroom have considered that possibility and are not compliant in it. Getting out of this league is the priority over everything else and we have a real chance of achieving that this season, contrary to what McNulty thinks about York and their budget. The priority now should be to get into the play offs and try to win them. What's happened previously counts for nothing in the play offs, they are one off pressurised games and the favourites to win them invariably don't. Look what happened to Bolton against Oxford last season, they froze. So take no notice of McNulty and the stuff he said about York and budgets, in a play off game its different if you have a manager that believes and has a winning mentality. He's thrown the towel in already though should we play York in the play offs and there's a real possibility of that happening when you look at the league table. Rank bad management and a message to his players that they aren't good enough to beat them. A York team that lost 1-3 last Saturday and haven't been in good form. That's the mentality of the manager of our club and it's not a winners one is it? We need a new manager and i hope Cameron and Simon realise that now. Unfortunately it's appeared to me during recent league performances that they've all mentally downed tools and convinced themselves that the schedule of games is too much for them. The team selection against York struck me as one designed to rest key players like Barlow/ Allarakia/ Henderson/ Berger etc. rather than one designed to win the game. It definitely sounds like McNulty is tired and he also had a veiled attack at the club in respect of the pitch problems and postponements during his interview after the Maidenhead game. In reality we've played probably the same number of games as most clubs and a lot are operating with smaller squads than us and some with part time set ups. Fixture congestion is normal at this time of the year, especially if you have a cup run. There's nobody in and around the club to question McNulty though because none are really qualified in footballing matters. The team selection for the Spennymoor game will tell a story i think, the sudden re-emergence of supposedly injured key players will reveal what the managers and the players priorities are. We need to see a reaction before that game against Aldershot and Woking, the recent rubbish league performances will have already impacted the attendance at the Spennymoor game. It's made the game a much harder sell to friends and family for a start. [Post edited 27 Mar 8:33]

Jim wont be sacked now James, this poll is pointless like many of the ones that you post. He's got a big six weeks coming up though and if the season extends beyond that he'll still be manager next season, unless he leaves for pastures new which is always a possibility. |

I don't think Waller is a big loss. His distribution is atrocious, he's vertically challenged and doesn't command his box and his positional sense isn't great neither, been caught out several times with long range shots when he's too far out of his goal. He's a decent shot stopper but prone to errors. He's been OK i think and better than some we've had but i don't think he's anything special and certainly replaceable. I prefer a big goalkeeper and i think we could do to sign one permanently next season for continuity. |

The product he puts on the pitch has a direct correlation with how many people we can hope to get through the turnstiles. He's pivotal in increasing attendances. Try getting people to part with their money to watch the stuff we've served up over the last few games. The manager explains it away by citing the difference in budgets, in other words there's no point in fans attending the game because we can't really compete. It's a losers mentality, York got soundly beaten a few days ago and even a team on a part time budget have done the double over them this season. There's a chance we could play York in the play offs, McNulty has already conceded that game before a balls been kicked. He's in the wrong job but this will rumble on just like it did with BBM. |

In answer to this daft survey the answer has to be no doesn't it? A play off place means McNulty has achieved. A final at Wembley is also good enough for me. Why would any fan forfeit any of those in order to sack the manager? I do think those achievements would paper over the cracks and i don't think things will change going forward but nobody wants us to miss out on those aims just to sack the manager do they? A play off place and Wembley appearance benefit the club and will justify the budget afforded to McNulty, one that should see us beat Spennymoor according to McNultys simplistic logic |

The club are asking fans to try to boost the attendance for the Spennymoor game, put up posters and drop off leaflets etc. I'm hoping the manager is also fully aware of the part he has to play in increasing attendances. There is a permanent urgency to increase the crowds. McNulty will explore options with other clubs should they come knocking, his career is his priority. The priority for everybody associated with our club, including the fans, should be what's best for the club and at the moment it's not looking good for McNulty. Hopefully we start winning some games and pick up some points. Injuries, pitches, budgets etc are all excuses and every manager in the league can point to them. York haven't been great lately but you wouldn't think that listening to McNulty. |

Good post but no mention of Project 5000. McNulty doesnt generate enthusiasm when you listen to him speak, he's bland unfortunately. His football in the main leaves you with indigestion, very few like watching it. Yes we get the odd good performances but in general it's a poor watch. The performance at Maidenhead wasn't a unusual one, we've seen dozens like those under this manager. Increasing crowds is imperative and we aren't going to do that with this manager, he's decreasing them instead. I think that what will focus the Ogdens thinking going into the Summer. What a great post. McNulty has never liked our playing budget being mentioned and especially with it being aimed at finishing in the play off spots. He doesnt like pressure and it makes him accountable. I think it was both Cameron and Simon who mentioned that objective at the start of the season. The club has to set the manager targets, he's a employee remember and I think they are well within their rights to expect a return on their investment into the team. He's been backed during the season and i reckon the budget has probably been extended to assist him. The Chairmen and Directors can see what we see and every team has to contend with injuries and compete with teams with bigger budgets, they are ready made excuses for the manager. The pitch is actually playing better than Oldhams and tge grass is now growing in the problem areas..Barnet and York had no problem whatsoever playing their passing game on it. The club isn't about Jim McNulty or any individual, it's much bigger than that. We have a new structure in the Boardroom now and new owners, plenty of people to make a reasoned collective decision and that gives me a bit of hope going forward. |

Exactly, why didnt he mention budgets after the Boston, Maidenhead, Ebbsfleet etc etc games? It's a slap in the face to the Ogden family and shows a lack of gratitude. He's got a decent budget and signed a lot of players during the season, wasted it on too many wide players. |

Williams was just a big lummux. I seem to remember he married into a wealthy family, probably why he never put a proper shift in. |

There are some who sit on forums specifically looking to trip posters up though, they offer very little opinion themselves but are like a bad rash when there's a point to prove. Normally petty things like a spelling mistake. They will never make a mistake because they never post their opinions. |

It's a football forum, a sounding board. Facts are great but they don't always tell the story or determine the final outcome...possession stats are a good example of that. Football debate is all about opinions, without opinions there is no debate. Some people are more easily pleased than others and that's what we have here i think. There's nothing wrong with any of that. Agreement is great but not for the sake of it, we dont want any of that. |

They must be the other fifth then who you dont know. We both know a lifelong fan who chooses not to go to some games though because of the manager, so you do know at least one of the fifth. A quick questions. Do you expect us to beat Spennymoor and do you expect us to finish in the play offs looking at the league table? [Post edited 25 Mar 11:45]
