| News Comment | Fulham Defeat Eases Pressure On Southampton at 13:51:32
I haven't read the article yet...... but just puzzled by the "headlines" for the piece! Easing WHAT pressure? Seriously, the Team/Club are under no pressure. They are playing well, significantly more skilled/capable/confident than ANY of the bottom three or four sides. Fact! Will now read the article [and comments] before then turning my thoughts to the upcoming Cup Semi-Final...... now that IS a pressure situation! Two good sides face to face COYRs |

Err, please have a wee bit more faith, Nick. The only weak link, as I see it, is picking Jack S anywhere in the centre of a back four ~ can't mark tight enough, ball watches too often, better covering one of the wide (fullback/wingback) positions |
| News Comment | Saints V Manchester City The Preview at 12:51:55
Glory be...... it'll be THREE O'CLOCK start and a Saturday to boot! Yippee! A true test of the team/squad coming up; will be good to see how they perform over the course of the match..... CYRs |
| News Comment | Hasenhuttl Agrees New Deal In Principle at 10:53:05
Best signing of this window........ even if it s not open yet! Seriously, the news (filtering out) is just what the club needs; some stability! Some commitment, some ability and 'footballing nouse' |
| News Comment | Saints V Preston The Verdict at 11:35:14
Pleased to see Wesley Hoedt get 90 mins under his belt 👠With luck, the first step in his "rehabilitation" programme at St Mary's; rather than anything else. |
| News Comment | Saints Fans Split On Adam Lallana Return at 14:37:35
Another "yesterday's man" I'm afraid...... would not touch with the proverbial barge pole. It was his choice to 'desert SFC' and, looking towards next season, here is no longer a role for him at St. Marys now. |
| News Comment | Saints Accounts Released at 11:57:05
Instead of questioning his (RK?) salary, perhaps one should explore the commercial sponsorships & income streams that have grown exponentially under the current chairman! |
| News Comment | Saints At Arsenal The Verdict at 11:00:55
Generally, the Saints' away fans/support is top notch and far outstrips the "mausoleum mentality" at St. Mary's. The shameful keyboard warriors are best just ignored! That said, I don't expect Stephens to make the first XI on Wednesday. |
| News Comment | The Real Reason Why Saints Didn't Land Che Adams at 12:16:13
A point well made! Fact of life is that if a club dont want to sell a player then they certainly do not have to buckle. They hold their nerve before (eventually) get 'top dollar' for the player in question. E.G. Luis Suarez; Philippe Coutinho; or even VvD Not signing the Brun guy was very much a non-story once BCFC stated that they had no intention of selling their player during the January window |
| News Comment | Saints At Burnley The Verdict at 10:33:22
Unfortunately, converting Stephens from a promising young right back to that of an unimpressive centre back hasn't (& doesnt) work well. Overall, his defending (in a central postion) is often poor; ball watches, loses his man too readily and doesn't cover his full back or teammates adequately enough to be a first choice. Sadly, he cannot get by on (positive) attitude alone. |
| News Comment | Saints V Derby County The Verdict at 07:23:31
Jack Stephens...... a centre-back, NOT! Ball watches too often. Shows little awareness of where opposition players are in the penalty area and is, at best, a fullback..... worthy of an occasional place on the bench! |
| News Comment | Saints At Cardiff The Verdict at 09:08:40
Long trip to get soaked thru'........ but you could see the intent & effort that the new manager had brought to the squad in just two training sessions. Quite rightly, the depleted squad (forwards + full backs) made things very difficult for Saints to dominate over the 90+ mins ~ but there was enough on show for Ralph H to build on. Onwards and upwards over the coming weeks! |
| News Comment | Saints Officially Confirm Ralph Hasenhuttl at 12:27:26
Just hope that the fans (and club) give the man longer than they gave Claude Puel and, to a certain extent, give him a proper run at summer trading / pre-season planning and setting things in place for the 2019/2020 season. The team WILL be able to accrue enough points to avoid any relegation issues. However, future (successful) planning will take time...... and the new manager will need that from all sectors. |
