Frey’s big start, Madsen’s quiet wins, Field’s conundrum - Perryipheral Thoughts
at 14:20:23

Excellent article.

Can I make a plea to the others out there that read and enjoyed this too: Go and sign up for the Loft for Words Patreon subscription. I pay £5 a month with is nothing for the value I get from this site and we all need to contribute so Clive can keep it running. Loft for Words and perhaps West London Sport are the only two decent website sources for QPR related info in my opinion so let's support them.

@Clive I respect why you probably don't want to be too self promoting but you should mention the Patreon page when you're doing podcasts and stuff!

Dieng makes history, QPR score from free kick, world peace declared — Report
at 17:52:05

I think it was the right thing not going to deep with the knife on Hamalainen (was tempted to use ‘travelman’ as well to avoid looking up where all the ‘a’s go!). Hopefully we can arrange other cover for Paal via the loan market and find A-man a league one club to build his confidence. He tries, and he’s (reasonably) young but I don’t think he’s even 2nd choice standard. Kakay on the other-hand pleasingly has proved more than capable of that role and should provide competitor for the shirt.

I am concerned our hope and dreams are resting on youngsters (who often start with a bang) and new signings brimming with confidence from their former (more successful) clubs. This is QPR after all, where deluded optimism can coexist with proto-despair, like a battery being charged and dissipated at the same time. It feels like the sentiment this season could go to the extremes either way.

New QPR manager meets old QPR cup routine — Report
at 02:26:51

Great review Clive and completely agree, I remember writing article for AKUTRs during Holloway’s first reign after the ‘I spend less time in the cup than a tea bag’ comment. That was shortly after supporters were putting cash in a bucket to keep the club alive. The draw we would have got was Man U at home I believe, generating a six-figure sum for the club. Given the circumstances I didn’t find it all that funny.

One interesting point you haven’t mentioned about Beale throwing (justifiably) the players under the bus for the performance is how he also seemed to imply it was also the medical team’s fault too. I wouldn’t say he chucked them in front of the bus as well, but he certainly showed them where the buses drive, and where hypothetically ‘should someone give some else a nudge’ that’s where they would end up. I’ve never heard a manager speak like that and I wonder if he’s going to end up ‘losing the office’ rather than ‘losing the dressing room’? I also found that particularly odd considering he said proudly in the interview last week the medical team told him to play Willock for no more than 60 minutes and he left him on the pitch ‘as the team needed him’. Feels to me if Willock has broken down, the finger of blame should be pointing in one place only. But then what do I know?

Moneyball - Podcast

Despite the ladles full of sarcasm underlying Clive’s recommendation to watch Grant Hall’s Gender Reveal Party (spoiler if for his baby to be not him) I still took the bait. It’s fair to say that it was 2.5 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. Thanks mate!
