The highlights shone a light on how profligate we were in front of goal. Burger was stuffed by the Ref, getting booked for diving when it was a clear penalty.. This is getting interesting now, and the money is an added bonus. Can we target this competition and keep a play off place? I think we can at least in the short term. Could we give any player a mini break. Beckwith doesn’t get much rest bite, or Gordon on the other side. If East needs rest we have decent options of the bench in there. Tuesday is massive (not least for the ground staff) beat them, and Ebbsfleet and we could even be nudging 3000 gates at Spotland again. UTD |

Again of the highlights (1 point from twelve when I have seen Dale live this season). That was good. Three forwards on the scoresheet. 1st penalty of the season. A headed goal from a corner. We filled the surprises bingo card yesterday. The point I saw Dale get was at Ebbsfleet and Ayinde was influential in that. Yesterday he looked really good. We have a squad many would envy with Ferguson, Burger, Allerakia, and McBride not being starters, and Hendo waiting in the wings. Nothing beats strong competition in a squad and we certainly have that at the moment. I’m hopeful the squad can absorb the schedule ahead. A shout out to Rodders he has really got his mojo working this last couple of games. I think this result brings more pressure on Tuesday. It would be criminal for this performance to be followed by less than 3 against Boston (no disrespect to them). UTD |

Of the highlights I was pleased with what I saw. Having played such little league football I thought we may be of pace, but we gave it a go. Played a few balls in front of Rodney and Mitchell, which is where I think both are at their best. Rodders look much more of a handful than in any game I have seen him in this season. I doubt FRG have had many tougher home games this season. Still plenty to look forward to this season. A game at Spotland would be nice. UTD |

I like the relaxed commentary style, which was very even handed and acknowledged the gulf between the teams. I am just glad the player got a game into their legs. They have not had a lot of football lately, and we don’t have many games scheduled in January either. This is a venerable old competition and while it’s not the priority I would like to see us progress. Provided the squad doesn’t become stretched by the backlog of games, which may mount further in the next couple of weeks. |

Plenty of positives from that. We have broken the win then loose streak. Mitchell is back among the goals, and he does seem to get on goal scoring streaks so here’s hoping for another. Barlow is looking settled at the club now after a difficult start. Didn’t think he would feature much, but he has staked his claim well. These 2 combined beautifully for the 3rd. January looks tough, but we are looking reasonably solid in the play off spots at the moment. Happy. UTD |

Strangely enough after my post on the D&R match thread I didn’t bother with the long journey to Spotland for this. So can’t really comment on the game. However it is easy to say the sending off changed the game, they always do. frequently the team down to 10, like ourselves at Gateshead gain more resilience and it can be hard to make the most of the numerical advantage. So credit to the team for comprehensively taking advantage last night. Where do we go from here, well we are all kept guessing with this team lately. I was pleased to see Rodders on the scoresheet. Feel MIitchell’s time will come if only the team can create a couple of chances for him. UTD |

The highlights lasted 2 minutes 16 seconds. 20 seconds of which were used up before a ball was kicked. Great summary of the game. We played the better football but never looked like winning or losing, but we contrived to do so. It was a poor watch. Fortunately I took some Christmas cards and a pen to the ground. Otherwise it would have been a complete waste of time!!! |

I have seen Dale 4 times this season. Seen 2 nice goals scored against Ebbsfleet and 2 other shots that required a save from the keeper in the other 3 games. 1 point from 12. Not good enough. Especially when you’re not being entertained. I only had to travel 30 miles to the game today. I feel for the fans who travelled over 200 miles. Not sure when I’ll next be inclined to jump in the car and go and see the team. That saddens me after 40 years supporting the side. Dispirited. |

In Jim’s interview he mentioned that changes were made when the sending off occurred. Then several other tweaks were made in the last 30 minutes, including Penney being asked to change his focus more than once. This is how I thought football works from park level to premier. Managers react to how the game is flowing. That is why I continue to be surprised to hear BJ has no plan B. He has played professionally for years I am sure he knows how to make tweaks. At one advanced stage last season TVOS mentioned we had yet to get either consecutive wins, draws or losses (hope I haven’t misquoted there). After 4 straight wins a one point we seem to be reverting to that patten. Our form is the 2nd worse in the top 9 over the last 6 games. We need to regain a bit of consistency and turn more losses into draws, never mind draws into losses. Then I might rekindle the view that we are as good as I thought we were. This battling performance is a start. Well done lads. UTD |

Beginning to think we are not as good as I thought. Arrived late but apparently missed nothing. Then watched a match in which we were never in danger of taking control. We did pull them about at times but to no positive effect. We have lost the tag of being difficult to beat and score against. Must find it again and fast otherwise the chance of the play offs disappear. Seen them 3 times this season a they have got one point. Perhaps I should stay away in future. Heading across to the game today with a bit of optimism. The squad is more healthy than it has been for a while, we are of the back of a win and our away for is very decent. If the team do themselves justice I think we can win this. Ahead of some difficult looking games. UTD |

Find it strange that some folk are upset that BJ has been linked to an another job. Seems to be staying here. Then people are then questioning his loyalty all the same. This is 2024 people move jobs for better terms more than they ever have before. People say there is no loyalty in football, well there is no loyalty in business period. To us football is an emotional attachment, but for those in the trade it is a job. I can’t hold people in football to different standard to the rest of society. So don’t care if McNulty approach or was approached by, that’s business. If he still in the dugout on Saturday he will have my support. |

Ditto your last paragraph. The players seem to adore BJ and really play for Him. Now if he goes things are bound to be unsettled for a while until a replacement is found and beds in. Any new manager will want to stamp his mark on the players / club and taking over from a well liked character is never easy. Some noses will inevitably be put out of joint. Pete Wild at least knows the local area and set up. Not sure if Gilmour would have played for him, but a link like that may help, or possible hinder any bedding in. Dependant on how they got on. I wasn’t in favour of Jim getting the job, and now I don’t want him to leave. That says something positive. |

Only saw the highlights so can’t comment on the game. But momentum is key and I thought from the second half of the Ebbsfleet game we had lost it a little. So yesterday’s result, if not the performance, was really important. Another draw would have stymied that momentum even further. Sounds from BJ that Mitchell and Rodders could be back in harness for Wealdstone. Hope TA going back to his old club sees continued momentum. |

I hope you’re right, but after 2 losses I fear they will be fired up. It’s 2 hours from me and was considering going, but after journeying to Spotland for last week’s defeat I wanted to avoid another one. Guess that means we’ll win and I’ll be happy and hacked at the same time. UTD |
