Saints V Crystal Palace The Verdict
at 14:43:57

I was pleased that Morgan was back in his best position. Dave Merrington said in the radio commentary that MS could become a goal scorer. In 50 odd years watching soccer I have never seen a player less likely to become a goal scorer. Keep him in th centre doing what he does best!

Half Term Report
at 14:23:34

For me the future of this season is glaringly obvious. We need a sight more than 3 wins away from home to hope for automatic promotion. I believe Middlesborough have won 7 games away from home. If we don't improve then I think we will have to settle for play-offs.

Will There Be Clues At Yeovil ?

The manager said on Player that none of his selections for friendlies will give any indication as to who will be selected to start against Leeds. He will only know that himself on the Friday.

Tribute Or Snub.?
at 19:04:13

Sadly the truth is Saints support is not in the same league as some other clubs (outside the premier League) who can count on big support even for meaningless friendlies. Derby County have a ground extremely similar to St. Mary's and have crowds in the Championship in the high 20 thousands for home games. I will be suprised if Saints average attendence is more than 25000 for the coming campaign, even if they are winning and are in the top 6.

Campaign To Loosen Beer Laws At Football Starts
at 18:52:13

On Saturday last at the German Supercup (the Bundesliga version of the Community Shield) people were smoking, drinking beer and standing (in designated areas). These are all activities that would bring the full force of the law down on any fan attempting it in English grounds. Presumably this rule regarding drinking alchohol was introduced because a minority misbehaved whilst under the influence. As in many instances in UK the majority are punished for the sins of the minority and it's just plain wrong! If people misbehave, then punish THEM and not the vast majority of people who are simply enjoying themselves without inconveniencing anyone else.

Some great memories of those days Ron. How I wish we could back, it would be well worth re-living. Happy Birthday.

Time For A Permanent Tribute To Markus
at 21:54:25

Something more permanent, but obviously something the family is comfortable with. With regards to naming stands after past Saints Legends, the stumbling block could be that NC, who would be making the decisions, has not shown so far, that he has a great deal of interest in any of those giants of the past!

Saints V MK Dons The Verdict
at 19:11:46

I really do wish Saints would desist from 'matching up' with opposition formation. Saints always perform better playing 4-4-2. We should play to our own strengths regardless of what the opponts put out. Fort was brought in as Chamberlain's shadow and should therefore have been in from the start!

Forgotten Heroes - Mark Wright
at 20:14:04

Ironic regarding Wright not being popular among Saints fans after he left. It would now appear that NO former saints players (or managers) are popular, certainly with the current people in charge and ably supported by some fans who appear to think that the people curently with the power - and money, have to be supported in their views, even if it means turning their back on, and even critizing people they once revered! A great shame in my view.

The IFO Report
at 18:52:07

The new regime certainly do come over as being quite vindictive at times. Not only Nick's situation but also there was the Echo ban, the photography fiasco, not to mention, if reports are to be believed, the disrespectful treatment of some former players and managers. Perhaps a more user friendly approach might be desirable. After all no-one likes any organization to which one has an attachment to be badly thought of by the world outside and it surely isn't a pre-requisite to success.

Burley Losing
at 15:47:37

I agree totally. Burley was one of the worst managers Saints have had. For me, his worst trait was that he always wanted to sign "players I have worked with before" but almost without exception they let him, and us, down! Secondly it appeared that he was constantly falling out with players, which resulted in them being dropped. Thus we never had a settled team for long. Rednapp followed by Burley = Disaster!

A Rough Guide To Walsall 2010
at 21:50:20

it won't be happening anyway - I hope! (bad weather). Having said that, I trust travelling fans will get plenty of advance notice. Why? We don't appear, to me, to be capable of beating anyone at present. The reason for this is that, with Barnard injured, our chances of scoring enough goals to win games is severely limited.

Saints Flyer - Nigel Adkins & The Sword Of Damocles
at 15:08:29

At least NA should find it easy to convince NC that new players need to be brought in asap. NC watches every game and surely see the evidence of his own eyes. The fact is that even TWO talented coaches can't get this lot playing convincingly, and one can only hope that not too many points are dropped between now and the time when changes can be made. Certainly once these changes are made NA will be under the same pressure, or likely even more, than AP was.

Saints V Brentford The Verdict
at 14:57:09

i am at the stage now where I wish we didn't have to play any more games until after we get some more people in. I have no confidence at all in this group of players and would add that this was my position even before the Brentford game! I was really pleased at the time that the Hartepool game was called off.

Hartlepool Off
at 20:59:21

I am glad this game is off, if only to allow Saints more time to rethink their strategy away from home. Since the win at Hillsborough they have been less than impressive away from home. I believe this is because, in common with many other teams it's, 'lets not try too hard to win in case by doing so, we end up losing'! (4-5-1) A wise maxim for some clubs in our league, but surely not for the Saints. We are good enough to beat anyone away from home, but we have to go for it. (4-4-2) 'Faint heart never won fair lady'! The message has to be, ' We play to win regardless of who or where!

Saints V Peterborough The Preview
at 20:47:20

Fonte appears to have his least convincing displays when paired with Jaidi. Dickson has not been given any kind of opportunity since he has been at the club and it's about time he was given one. 'One' not meaning one game. He came to Saints highly rated but no matter how badly Harding performs he is still preferred. Watching some of Harding's displays away from home must make Dickson wonder what he has to do!
At St Mary's there is little fear that Saint's won't turn out 4-4-2, it's away from home that we appear to be so driven by the fear of losing, that we are too afraid to go for the win and therefore adopt 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 as NA calls it. I wish Saints had the confidence to play their own game, regardless of the competition, I'm sure they would win more games that way.

The Puncheon move proves a point Nick. I was wrong in thinking he would wait until January before he acted. I'm convinced more will follow.
