St. Valentines Day Massacre?...Stoke City away match thread.

Does he ever practise dead balls in training? You’d think the coaches would notice his zero corners or free kicks past the first man

Sack the board??
at 14:12 19 Mar 2023

Every club has its brainless supporters - we are all disillusioned with the pathetic performances which the players have put in for 50% of the last three seasons and this current run is as bad as I’ve ever seen and my first game was in 1968.
These short sighted idiots have as many brain cells as the people who bought a place on the Costa del Sol, voted for Brexit then couldn’t believe it when they found out their freedom of movement had been curtailed to 90 day periods. So let’s sack the board and kill the club. Brilliant.

Tonight’s games

Ridiculously, after the run we’ve had, if we’d won these last two home games we’d have been just 2 points off the playoffs. Imagine if we’d managed 18-20 points out of the last 51…
This is such a soft division this year. That’s the most frustrating thing.

Crawley Match Thread
at 17:56 9 Jul 2022

My take on this afternoon.
First half - unspectacular but professional performance- Crawley only got over the halfway line on a handful of occasions and I think Walsh touched the ball 5 times at most. High press, great work rate apart from Dykes who played like a statue.
Second half - where do I start? Positives - Bonne; you’d never know his heart was at Ipswich. Led the line, great effort, if he’d played in the first half instead of Dykes we would have been 4 up at half time. Shodipo; played down the centre behind Bonne, fast, direct always wanted the ball. Dune; usual Dunne performance, shame he was drowning in a sea of mediocrity.
Negatives - Mahoney; good keeper but at least a foot too short. Another foot and he’d have saved the third goal.
Kakay; out of position regularly, poor error for their second goal
Hamalainen; lousy like last season, some nice flashes going forward but defensively non existent, lightweight and can’t tackle
Gubbins; completely out of his depth
Midfield - what midfield??
Dozzell; some nice touches and passes but frequently behind his player, resorts to fouling far too much
Masterson; unsurprisingly looked like a centre half playing in midfield. Defensively suspect and his challenge for the penalty was reckless and unnecessary
Owens; totally anonymous, you wouldn’t have known he was actually playing. Completely ineffectual.
And Kelman? Looked disinterested and the game completely passed him by.
Scary second half where for the last 30 minutes we were pegged back in our own half and in truth, had the game gone on for another 10 minutes, we would have conceded at least two more….

What about 4 subs for Hull? Did anyone else count 4 including the keeper? Or am I going senile? I thought only three were allowed this season. BBC website also shows 4.

Must be hard to smell cornflakes when you’re that far down the rabbit hole.

Covid passes
at 12:37 7 Jan 2022

I emailed the club as I found the Covid passport ‘check’ completely laughable.
There was no check to link ID with the content on the phone screen so it could have been anyone’s.
This was the response:
Thank you for your feedback regarding the Covid-19 status checks that were in place. While I understand your comments about verifying IDs against a Covid-19 certificate, in practice this would cause significant delays for spectators getting into the ground and lead to potential disorder and aggression towards staff.
I emailed again to point out that the current process of checking was no more reassuring to supporters who want to ensure they are sitting next to vaccinated people than no check at all.
I haven’t had any further response…
