And that's just some of them, from days gone by. I still love a good band, and I'm a firm believer there's no such thing as good or bad music, only music you like, or don't like. I could go on and on, but I'll let you off at that... Bye the way, I think a lot of the younger contributors on PS would be amazed at the bands we had in the Patti pavilion. |

I had the great pleasure of playing in the same team as Ivor when he had brief spell with pontardawe at the very end of his career. I was a young boy of about 18 coming back from injury, playing for ammanford and helping out at pontardawe. The boss told me to make the runs up the line and Ivor will find you.
Ivor never came out of the center circle but never missed a pass all game. Absolutely brilliant on the ball and had the vision to match his ball skills. I remember coming off the pitch thinking he had eyes in the back of his head.... Plasmarl boy as well. God I wish I was as good as I thought I was.... |

I've worked in the manufacturing industry for 42 years. Believe me this is a playing field that needs to leveled asap. And for those of you that think
normal everyday people in India and China are benefiting from this creation of wealth, then you are very wrong. At least we have a minimum wage law in this country. Some People can be so naive
to think
that protectionism is a game played by western companies only, shows they are desperately ill informed. I'd be interested to know how many of you are employed in the manufacturing industry. |

About time this thread appeared. Absolutely spot on Dicky. Why is it that in every other job, if you are failing, you get the sack but not if you are a professional PL player? Whoever is negotiating these contracts needs to
grow a pair and make a few amendments. In our case, the term "stealing a living" just doesn't cover it. |

My point is some people have to be shaken to get any type of response. And whether you like it or not, you can tell a lot about personality by observing emotional behavior... It's called character Mapping.

it's been mentioned on here previously but not enough. How do we
know how much of this is within the control of Siggy??? I can't think of any incident throughout the whole time that Siggy has been a part of our
squad, that he has been anything but the perfect professional. My memory is not what it used to be, so correct me please, if I'm wrong.
My personal view is he's being hung, drawn and quartered here and
I'm not sure anyone can prove it's got a great deal to do with the player himself. Receiving a pay rise is going to be part of the deal for him but the biggest benefactor here is the club, and therefore the Americans. I may be wrong though. |

Been a long time but couldn't resist this one because I don't like the thought of our club turning into a 'Hire and Fire' organisation. Give Guidolin credit for the way he conducts
himself under pressure ,
considering the language disadvantage , I think he is a man
of some integrity. I also think he knows more about football than many on this forum.
Some football supporters judge a good manager , by the loud noise he makes or the controversy he courts. Marhinio is classed as a brilliant manager but why? If you put him in charge of a lower league club and made him work without an endless budget, do you think he would produce the goods?
And as far as the management is concerned, we should be grateful we haven't had the likes of Sam, to cream off the top... Allerdyce, I mean, not Hamman (not that there's any difference, allegedly) |

The way I see it is we have two options.
1. Look for a new manager and start another cycle of 2 years stability, followed by the risk of loosing him if he is successful. Then having to start again Etc, etc.
2. Appoint Gary who, although new to the job, is someone who is used to being a leader of both club and team, having been the club/team captain for many years. I also believe his experience of being captain while under Roberto and Brendan is something we cannot discount.
My personal view is we need stabillity to progress. I don't share the view that you need
A big name to have big signings. The pull of the premier league should not be underestimated. Two of the most successful teams in the league had long term managers who's first few years were not immediately successful ( fergerson and venger) but they were given time to build.
I think Gary monk has an oppertunity that he knows may only come once in his lifetime and think he has both the will and drive to make a good effort. Don't forget , he has been our leader for many years and he is capable of more as a manager. |
