My grandad had a saying.. 'men against boys' I remembered this when I last watched England, the Euro final against Italy at Wembley. Felt we were the boys led by a youth team couch going up against men. Not watched any England match since (because its shite), so cannot comment. However, from comments here, nothing seems to have changed. That said they are through to the last 16 -anything can happen, including Slovenia winning outright. I do fancy an outsider this year. Probably not; but I am fed up with good young talent leaving our club too soon for 'bigger clubs' and failing in dead end youth and U23 squads. Too many over the years, some successes but far too many young promising talent thrown away. I believe it was KH who said there are far too many dead end cul-de-sac academies... |

SG would never be the chairperson of anything based on his profile and experience. No debate on this. He is a good man, should be remembered fondly for saving the club If he hangs on, he will cause more issues and be remembered in a poor light. SG - Job done sir, thankyou but a wise person would move on now. |

no its... Me: There is no point arguing with you (or a variation) Other: Why? Me: You can never win an augment against an idiot Another one that irritates is signing off an email etc with 'further discussions regarding this matter is no longer required'. Followed up by not replying to any other email or post form said individual. |

Ah, 'knicker in a twist.' Haven’t heard that since 1979, and never in the context of menstruation. Reminds me of some other juvenile sayings .. thanks for taking me down the Pre-Thatcher memory lane: Ants in your pants makes you belly button dance Tale tell tip, you mother cant knit, your fathers in the dustbin eating fish and chips Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me My dad's bigger then your (we all had dads back then) No backsies! Cross my heart and hope to die, stick a needle in my eye. Finders keepers, losers weepers. Liar, liar, pants on fire. [Post edited 4 Apr 10:57]

In the fans forum SG said he had maintained the playing budget but cut costs in all other departments- expect this means we are well set for this league - though I am not sure. |

442 - Good point here. Why are we so consistently bad at succession planning? If we think about the past 30 years, how many successful managers have been proactively appointed by the board - probable Steve Parkin's first spell at the club? Keith Hill forced the hand of the board through not only the results but the paradigm shift in the playing culture. So, it seems successive Boards have not been able to pick a winner. As I said earlier, Jim will move on, either fired or headhunted - who are we lining up to replace him? |

why must you shut down an opinion that differs from your own by the 'provide me the evidence' routine? Surely we all have an equal voice and healthy debate is desirable? you do this quite often. Go on... do it... reply with ...... if you look at my previous posts; or provide the evidence. What I will say, to all is don't fall out over little Jim, he will be gone within 18months - how do I know, because they all do. I genuinely hope he goes via being head hunted for a better job as this will mean he has turned around the results. Good luck to LJ and the team for Monday, hope for a win and a win in style. |

I do think Little Jim can spot a player and develop players. If he is given another season, he will add quality to the squad and improve it. I just wish he stopped talking like Tony Blair on acid and was more tactically adaptable. good results lately, not watching but will start again in the fall. |

Yes he did... I think Jim switched it back... |

I expect but don't know, that WSH are offering better terms to settle SG's debt and TFC said... let talk about it, that's like saying get lost. After SG's reported actions at the EGM... I like him even less than before and for the record I have stated he was not very good for the past year. HOWEVER, the morally right thing to do is ensure his loans are make good and he is thanked for his service. Don't want to see the guy under financial hardship for rescuing us from MH. |

Hi DaleiyLama 6 weeks Hey it was the Groundhog, not me, you'll have to ask them/they. For the record I am as clueless as a Labour voter at a Rochdale by-election. Maybe it was The club teetering on bankruptcy like a drunk on a tightrope, or the old club biting the dust thanks to a thrilling 9M share issue drama? Maybe it was Lee Anderson deciding to join a new cult, or Rochdale deciding Gaza was the new Paris for a city break with Gorgeous George. Or perhaps, just perhaps, it was the dawning realization that SG and JM are about as much the future of the Dale as I am the next Archbishop of Canterbury. As my old DO once mused - and by mused, I mean said something once that wasn't a complaint - 'Good question, well presented, deserves an answer.' He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was mostly to ask if he could have an early stack on POETS day. Cut the cord On the topic of cutting the cord, let me put it this way: time is more on my side than wrinkles on my sack. In the parade of 19 managers I've seen come and go - some with the enthusiasm of a kid in a candy store, others with the joy of someone off to get a root canal - only 4 got headhunted. The rest? Sacked, with the ceremonial grace of a Politician tryin to defend their expense claim. I'll sit back, enjoy the spring, and wait for the new season like it's the next season of 'Succession' (no spoilers please).' New chairperson, new manager, new beginnings... And while everyone else is having a meltdown, I'll be there, making light of the situation, because if we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at? - Mia Mia, ready for the show). *Mia Mia (Arabic for 100%), just in case you thought I was ordering a drink |

Don't know why your all moaning, I had a lovely Saturday. Cancelled all my Dale and National league subscriptions, did not watch or listen to the Dale and spent a sunny afternoon in the garden, then got ahead of my house chores.... ironing (well its the only thing the RN taught me that I was good at), cleaning the ablutions, catching up on Gold Rush. Momtaz! (that Arabic for Excellent) |

At 53 min I turned the game off - first time for me since I started following the Dale in 1986. I won't be spending this Saturday watching, its not good enough. Pretty clear to me that if SG was not focussed on the American Invasion, Jim would be fired, as I think the form since Jan is one of our worst on record and the on field performances are rubbish. Its important to remember we all love the Dale, so for the 'Big Jim' fan club, lets agree to disagree and I wish the team all the best for Saturday and the rest of the season. |

The game was beyond boring to watch from a Dale perspective (felt like a punishment). The commentator actually said.... Dale keep slowing it down, walking football, no leaders. I have never bought into the 'big Jim' fan club. I think he has many excellent qualities but he talks in clichés, whines and seems to lack judgement (did he really say he though we could have won?). As to the Chairman - I invite you all to watch the first 5 minutes of the fans forum on Youtube. Take a look at SG's body language when Jim arrives - make you own mind up about what SG really thinks about Jim. |

Yeh, good first half, like the old days under Keith Hill ' no fear' 2nd half a bit of a dead rubber (understandable). Your point on the crowds and the other posts on the town not supporting the club are accurate and make me worried about 'why anyone would buy this company' and if they do - how to change the paradigm. I am worried we will end up this an owner who does not have a clue or the best interest of the club and town. |
