Kisnorbo signs new contract at Leeds
Kisnorbo signs new contract at Leeds

At last Leeds United have persuaded somebody to sign a new contract, as popular defender Paddy Kisnorbo has accepted the club’s terms and agreed a new two year deal to stay at Elland Road.

The Australian suffered a serious achillies injury in a game against Millwall towards the end of our successful campaign to get out of League One, and it took him 14 months to make his comeback appearance as a substitute at QPR on the final day of last season.  But Simon Grayson promised that he would be offered a new contact if he could prove his fitness in pre-season training, and thankfully it has come to pass.

Grayson told the official site "We're delighted to get things finalised with Paddy. He's had a tough time, but we know what he is all about and what he brings to the team. He is a very important member of our squad. The deal shows the commitment of both the club and Paddy and it's great to have him back with everyone after being out for so long."

Until his injury the 30 year-old was one of the stars of our League One promotion campaign, and if he had been fit last season we could well have avoided a lot of the defensive problems which cost us dearly in our first season back in the Championship.  We can but hope that he can return to the form that he showed before his long lay-off and that he can form a decent partnership with Andy O’Brien.
