Leeds could sign Kenny if we’re quick
Leeds could sign Kenny if we’re quick

Leeds could be about to sign Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, but the 34-year-old has said he wants his future to be resolved by the end of the month.

Kenny will be surplus to requirements at Loftus Road if the R’s manage to complete the signing of Rob Green from West Ham, and although a number of other clubs are chasing him (including Ipswich Town), his preferred option is to come back to his native Yorkshire. The keeper is well known to Neil Warnock, having played under him at Sheffield United as well as QPR.

But as ever, a lack of funds is delaying the deal, as the talks about a possible investment in the club rumble on with no news of any conclusion, so it’s touch and go as to whether we will be able to conclude the deal within the timescale that Kenny wants. This uncertainty can only add to the frustration felt by Warnock over the situation at the club, as we still have only one completed transfer in the close season so far.

Warnock has flown out to Monaco to speak to Ken Bates at length about the way our summer is going, and there are plenty of rumours circulating on twitter and a couple of forums that he is on the verge of quitting the club, with once source being a player’s agent.

If we can’t manage to conclude a deal for Kenny this could be the final straw that breaks the camel’s back and finally makes up Warnock’s mind that he will leave, and I can’t say I’ll blame him if that happens.
