Can Leeds fend off Premier interest in star turn?
Can Leeds fend off Premier interest in star turn?

El Hadji Diouf's agent Willie McKay has revealed that he is due to sit down and discuss a new-deal for the Senegal international, but his form has not gone unnoticed in the Premiership with two clubs reportedly making enquiries about where he is going in January.

It is common-knowledge that Diouf is one of United's lowest paid players and Leeds eventually got him to sign a short-term deal until January following the Blackburn game in August.

However after 8 games and three goals plus a stirring performance against Everton in the League Cup means Diouf's stock has rapidly risen and Leeds clearly have a fight on their hands to keep him beyond the New Year.

McKay will sit down and try and thrash out a new deal to keep his client here in the long-term, maybe 2/3 years but surely Leeds greatest danger in these proceedings are themselves as the takeover talks approach the FIVE month mark.

Warnock's hands are tied in both the transfer and loan market due to the ongoing negotiations, therefore it is hard to see where the extra money to extend Diouf's stay will come from.

Ken Bates did recent express regret on both sides that the takeover/investment conclusion missed the August deadline and mumbled he hoped it would be sorted out by January and realistically that is the only hope we have of keeping EHD.

Diouf was virtually snook in through the back door and his first appearance as a sub versus Shrewsbury in the League Cup divided the fans, however it seems that he has won over the majority with his massive influence in Warnock's injury ravaged side who are now unbeaten in four matches.

My eldest lad turns 13 in a couple of weeks and he wants the home-shirt with Diouf 21 on the back, maybe I should try and persuade him to hang on until at least Christmas?

My boy is 17 years and his view of EHD was General. So for the future unseen he should be tied for the benefit of the Whites. On and off the pitch influence he is making this beautiful game look easy as it is? Tare
